Default What boat fits these specs? A trailerable go-fast cruiser?

My Dad is looking for a boat.

He really likes the 38 Fountain Express Cruiser, 370SS Formula, and 43 Black Thunder concepts of go-fast cruisers; stand up cabin/head, and especially the aft cabin of the 38 EC; but they are all too big.

What he is looking for is something along those lines, BUT it has to be trailer-able a little better than the aforementioned; as in trying to stay under 13,000 lbs. on a trailer, and under or close to 9' wide. Anything 32-40' long would be considered as long as it fits above.

Also would like to run 60-65mph at top end with something like a pair of BBC; or maybe even big outboards.

Price range would be under $200K, so therefore probably looking at the used market.

Surfing new boats, I've suggested the Fountain 33SFC, but its still a little too wide at 10'9" beam; and too heavy.
(Strange though, as specs state the boat is 12,000 lbs., while the 38LE is 12,900 lbs. with an additional motor, and 5 more feet of boat. One of those can't be right.)

What can the board suggest?

My neighbour has a formula 330SS with twin BBC that runs low-mid-60s. I have towed it several times behind my 2500HD, it's manageable. Have to be careful to get a trailer that loads it as low as possible due to the height.

There are four or more of these boats on the river, I know everyone is happy with the quality and performance even with twin small blocks. I don't know how they do in rougher water and have never driven one myself.

With the smallblocks, they can be bought around 200k new I think (old stock)

Brian, have him look at Spicy's 40SS formula, I have seen it and all though I only stood on the deck it is a very sharp boat priced right.

Thanks for the info guys. Keep it coming.

Let me just quantify the question. I am looking to help him figure out which boat make/model he wants to pursue. Then he will pursue a specific boat; which may not be until Spring.

Contender 31 FishAround and the 36' version.
Dry weights are low..larger boat may have an aft cabin.
Intrepid..even used are high due to 18 month wait for new.
31-35 have at least one model I believe with aft cabin.
Not fast but what standup quality in an Intrepid and their version of a ddc bottom. thats another story.
Key West aint far away brother!!

They are new but the Formula 35SS has an aft cabin if that's what he's looking into...pricing will certainly be above 200K though.
