Is there a lot of boat traffic at St Johns? I live in St Pete and havent been there yet, I might head up there today.

Theres Airfest in downtown St Pete today too.

I wish I had seen this before I left today, the wife and I were all over that area, we got back a little while ago. You and I probably crossed paths and didnt even know it.

Maybe next time... :ernaehrung004:

go fast boats are not very plentiful in Tampa. The local fountain dealer hardly ever has any but they have a lot of fish boats! On the westside of the Gandy there is Lightning Bay and they are a OSO advertiser. That is really the only performance boat shop in the area.
For eating there are much better places than Gators food. Sounds like you are on the beach side of St. Pete. Look these up on the net for directions:
Guppy's
Crazy Conch
Snappers
Frenchy's
Salt Rock Grill

Thanks for the list Mike, havent been to any of those restaurants yet. I will start checking them out this week!

We are on the beach side I guess, just off of St Pete Bayway. We just moved 2 months ago...

I have noticed the shortage of powerboats in the area. I see a few come through the canal behind the house every so often. Dont know if they are on here or not.

Baja 38 Special- Haulin A$$
Fountain- Didnt remember the name but I think it was an older 51 or something.

You guys have a local place to hangout?

Cool.

Going for sushi tonight in St Pete. Any info there? Anyone want to go?

boating37 10-22-2007 08:13 PM

It is funny that there's not a lot of go fastboats here in the Tampa area. I wonder why?

huh?
Well, we come from all over Tampa Bay, up the bay near Rocky Pt. all the way to Sarasota and over at the beaches. We don't often get to go in a group, but we TRY!

This was at "Ruskin" at Little Harbor, east side of Tampa Bay.

Don't want to argue w/others etc, but have boated at an add'l residence on a barrier island(Tierra verde area/s.St. pete) by the mouth of tampa bay for the last 30 yrs. If you do not live there and cannot see the skyway directly and the intracoastals between, you have no idea how many hot offshore boats are out there daily (testing) (especially on weekends-playing). Trust me many!!! Marc G.-Miss GEICO there, Jay P.-Spectre powerboats-there, Randy R.-former Rabco racing world champ-there, Todd W.-Pro Marine etc-there (nearby), many others and boats there regularly. Check out Billy's on Tierra Verde w/boat, for good food and what the local chef's (from Don Cesar, salt rock, etc) call the best food (for Date night)-Good Times on tierra Verde. Cheap food and boat atmosphere-The Warf on Pasa grille, Snappers on St. Pete beach good, send me pm and will tell you more

LOVE Sushi but am out of town till late Friday. I do not know any of the Sushi places in the St. Pete Beach area other than the place on the Bayway on the right before Terra Verde and it was nothing special nor all that good.

FeverMike 10-25-2007 06:50 PM

Kitten, you guys seem to come out of the woods when there is a Poker Run. I'd love love love to see these boats out in the bay or St. Pete area all the time but there are none to be seen most weekends when I am out.

I can't wait to get home this weekend and go boating! Hope the weather is good.

The wife and I were at the Wharf for happy hour this afternoon...cool place, good food and drinks. What else do you guys do when youre not boating? :drink:

PS-Mike, Highs in the low 80's and 40%-60% chance of scattered storms

I will be heading down to the Johns Pass area next week for a vacation. I have been to Gators and Rattlefish before, and am only interested in places where I might see some "Go Fast's". Of the Bars/restaurants previously listed, which ones are on the water? Just saw the forcast and it looks like it might cool down there next week.....Of Course. I guess its better than a high of 43.
