Thumbs down 500 hp limit coming in Maine!!!

http://www.wgme.com/News/story_detai...shtml?readmore

Makes absolutely ZERO sence. So I can have a 24 skater that will run 100 but not a 40 foot cruiser that can go 30.

What a dumbazz!!....Here's what really makes no sense:

Representative Richard Sykes of Harrison wants to submit a bill limiting boat motors to 500 horsepower or less...

Two people were killed when 32-foot boat with a twin, 435-horsepower engines slammed into a smaller, 14-foot boat and sliced it in half.
So, what the hell is this Bill supposed to do to help alleviate situations like the one cited in the article.

They are saying that the boat would not be on the lake. The boat had a total of 870hp.

It says "boat motors to 500hp or less," not "boats to 500hp or less."
Regardless, it's stupid. A single 29' foot boat with 499hp is still going to "slice" that 14'er in half; it's simply dumb legislation.

My guess would be they are trying to limit boats to 500hp total not engines to 500hp each. That isn't what the article says, but I'd guess that's what they meant.

Typical genius politicians. They just make up stupid **** so they can make a name. Also typical of american society, blame someone or something else. "Those evil 500hp motors are killing people just like those evil guns". It definately isn't the people that are controlling them causing the problems.

Good luck enforcing that law. I guess every water cop will have a prop driven dyno.
