If you want to break a 100 w 525's go with a Fountain. Problem is everyone will pick on you, it's lonely at the top.

38 Cig or 38 Power Play. Ask OSO Steve he's owned both.

Of course I am a bit bias, but the Avanti runs great in shyyt, and chops. Not the fastest hulls but rugged. Case in point my recent accident on the road. Lots of road rash, that's it. Needs a new paint job, some buffing, and some cosmetic repairs.
Depands on your budget. Avanti used to make larger boats. up to 2006. The molds just been sold, they will be back.
I'l go with the Cigs, Hustlers, Formulas. AT's. The choise will depands on year to. I will be probably looking for 38+- also.

382 Formula. It does everything well . Has a windshield you can see through, and great seats for sitting or standing. Built like a brick and will last forever, no wood anywhere.

In the rough it's much better than a 36 Skater. I have both. Both are top shelf, it just depends on how fast you want to go.

Donzi 38 Zr and if you don't need a cabin get a comp.
The new quad step Comp runs 99 w/ 525's and is a true 38'.

The advantage to the boats after 2002 is the newer deck with more headroom, and they are a little lighter in the layup process. Jassman owned a 2002 37' AT with the older deck. The 2005 and up boats have a lot more bling, and Pat decided to offer the cabin with two options, cabin liner, or a custom interior.

The 37' Active Thunder has a PHENOMENAL ride in the rough. It excels in rough water, and flat water is well, flat water and boring. Check this thread:

The Active Thunder phrase for the 2007 KW weekend:
"Trim Tabs are for pussies!"

Personal preference behind AT:
#2: 38 Powerplay
#3: 38 Top Gun TS
