Kew west for 2008
OK, after seeing all these awesome shots from this years event i want to plan early for it next year.
What are some good places to stay at without spending major $$ and with out staying next to something we do not want to be :) |
We stay at the Westin. With tax it ends up being about $525 a night.
I feel it is worth it because it is in the middle of everything. Best view for the races, walking distance to Duval and the Poker Run Marina, and about a 10 minute walk to the pits. There are cheaper places but you can't beat the location and convenience. Great time again this year. Going back in 08!!!!:cool-smiley-026: |
Hes right about the Westin. Stayed there myself. Nothing fancy but a decent clean room close to it all. Very pricey for what the room is but the location is worth it.

The Westin is very nice $2200 4days. We checked out monday and walked to The Pier House and reserved a room with a corner balcony for next year. The Pier House address is #1 Duval Street, need I say more.

Depends on what you want and if you are bringing a boat.I stayed about 15 miles out of Key West at sugar loaf inn $105.00 a night and they have a ramp and a marina.Next year I will stay in Key west so I can get trashed and walk home.
|
thanks, but $525 a night is beyond my range.
Last time i stayed in KW was 1997 and paid $125 a night. I cannot fathom that the cost has more then doubled from then. Southernmost Inn i believe is where I stayed, Not bringing the boat, not worth the trip from MN unless I can sleep on the boat :) |
We stayed @ the Key Lime this year. For $200 a night it wasn't bad. We stayed at the El Rancho last year. It was El cheap, but it was a place to lay my head & wash my dirty ass, so it worked fine. Water pressure in the shower was less than I could pee & while sitting on my throne, I could touch all 4 walls, including the one in the shower.
Just a thought....I'm bringing my boat.:D |

There were some in my group that went to Aqua. I chose to go home & throw up.
What I didn't understand was you dropping your wallet every 5 foot, bending over & taking a reeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaalllllllllllyyy long time to pick it up? |
No way. Kicked it all the way back to the room, locked the door, bent over to pick it up and backed into the door knob by mistake. Scared the heil out of me. :D
|
LOL! Hope is was at least greasy from you running your fingers thru Reggie's jet black hair.
|
$525.00 per night is ridiculous.
|
I believe the Southernmost is the best bang for the buck.
Stayed there for nov. and May races. Book early because it will fil up quick by Sept. Wait a month or two because right now they still remember the inflated rates from last week. Our group had most staying at The La Concha on Duval and were in from mid 200's to the 3's. |
Check out The Palms on White street. Nice place and i think its in the mid $200 range (was $135 up until last year). Not to far from everything and its onwned by the owner of Teasers so theres usually some talent staying on the second floor above the pool :D.

What are some good places to stay at without spending major $$ and with out staying next to something we do not want to be :) It is cheap, like 100-150USD per night and you get a king bed and an oceanfront room. Not the nicest place and I would bring my own towels (and maybe sheets and pillows if possible--dont use a black light you dont want to know:cool-smiley-011:) I stay there for a week every year after working the Barret Jackson in West Palm. It is not that bad, but not as nice as the Casa Marina. I stayed there with my dad (hes got alot more money than I do) and it is ****ing awesome, you wont even want to leave, ever. But it is $500 per night which for me, is not worth it. For $500 per night I would rather stay at the lagoon and bang some hookers and get drunk! but hey, I am a kid, what do I know:cool-smiley-011: |

I used to stay at the Galleon until the morning I woke up and noticed the floor moving. Felt a little crunchy / squishy when I hopped out of bed in the dark. Flicked on a light and noticed the little roacheroos running for cover. NEVER again will I pay to stay in that place.
