Help Please,Floor jack want pump up???

I got the boat trailer jacked up on stands and I cant get it down,

Its a Walker/Linclon jack made for napa # 91-652 height 3 3/4 to 24...2 ton

With the jack down ya start pumping it ,it pumps a little but it leaks right back down,

The vent looking cap on the top I took off it looked low of oil and added some to it,I think it was low,now it want even mover up any,I guess thats were ya put oil in it??

I tried with handle valve closed pulling up on jack to the top ,open valve then let down, this doesn't seem to bleed it..

It also would leak down real slow when jacking up a viechle.

Is there any of you thats knowledgeable on these jacks etc

Thanks for any help in this matter,Im stuck:(

My last jack did the same thing. It was 15 years old. Tried the same things as you and nothing worked. Figured it was just easier to put it in the dumpster and get a new as opposed to trying to get the hydrauilcs fixed. Bought a new one on sale at Sears.

Audiofn 11-20-2007 07:27 AM

The seat is probably worn out. People ALWAYS over tighten the things and ruin them. When they are new all you need to so is just barely seat the things and they work. For some reason people feel the need to really tighten them. This puts a groove in the seat and it will no longer work. Back out the screw that the handle goes into and I am betting there will be a ridge on it.

You're probably gonna need a new jack, I've never been able to fix my old ones that leak.

What were you doing anyways? Looking for porn under the boat?:evilb::D

Smitty 11-20-2007 08:32 AM

Sounds like you need a higher capacity jack. My 3 ton roller jack would not lift my steel trailer with the boat on it. I bought a 20 ton bottle jack and it lifted the whole side into the air:D with ease.

flash32118 11-20-2007 09:42 AM

The seat of your jack has a dingleberry stuck in it....use Zuls pillow to remove it

That sounds like thats what is wrong,I call a bud in the HYD biz he said there might be a piece of trash on the seat of the valve? I ll take a look at it and see ,hopefully its in the valve

They said the jack is worth rebuilding that the new one (Walker) is around 400.

Thanks:D

no i was just suggesting that there was no need to get out the big truck...hmm where are the jack stands..are they behind the rear axel? if they are is there a way to drop the front enough to get it off the stands?
those pictures are great...

packinair 11-20-2007 01:37 PM

you need to find someone that is sober to drive you to get a new floor jack

Panther 11-20-2007 02:06 PM

As long as you use the weight distributing hitch on the Honda it'll be fine!!!! :D

wrinkleface 11-20-2007 02:48 PM

Strip I lost some translation somewhere! U were jack'n off & your boat got stuck 2 your fingers?????:evilb:

Panther 11-20-2007 02:50 PM

I still say put some wood under the weels and pull the focker off the stands ghetto style!!!

Panther 11-20-2007 02:51 PM

They used to make axle jacks for trailers....they were shaped like a "D" with a notch on one end... Put the notch on the axle then back the trailer up and it rolls over the D and lifts the axle up....pull forward to bring it down....

Panther 11-20-2007 02:55 PM

Wow....they still make it!

Sometimes a bit of debris gets pinched in the valve seat, preventing full closure of the valve. Try gracking the valve open just a little bit and pumping it hard and fast with a load on it.. That can move enough fluid through the valve to loosen the dirt. IIRC, on that jack you can unscrew the valve/pump mechanism for disassembly. It's unlikely the ram seal is bad. I know this might be a stupid question but is it full of oil? It might be a good idea to drain & refill it. Use a DTE 24 or equivalent hydraulic oil. That's 10 weight.

That's a good jack and very repairable. Lincoln should have someone local that can service it for you.

Thanks Ill try that 2.

Yea my buddy owns the shop here, He rebuilt it about 7 years ago for 160.00:(,Guess I should of ask how much first:rolleyes:I found a place on line, kit was about 30.00.He told me to try and jack it up while its up take a big hammer and wack the shet out of it on the lift pad ,pushing fluid pass the seat, that might break loose any trash ,if thats whats wrong.

He also said it shouldnt be full on the oil level said about 1/2, anything over will come out the vent .The jack hasnt been leaking oil and I did put some in it ,didnt help.

Also found out all the jacks,Lincoln ,walker ect were bought out by a jap co, that there all imports now ,that the company that bought them is not making parts or service the old stuff.

Thanks
Rob

We handle Norco, a competitor. These are their service centers. A phone call will maybe tell you how to fix the problem. Sometimes they have specific bleeding procedures that have to be followed.
