Also do they all need tilt trailers ?
Depends on the state. in FL you can get an oversize permit.

Yep depends on the state ck. on line under say trucker over weight/wide load permiting etc. some states offer daily permits others yearly w/diff. fees etc. it needs to be researched. if only hauling in your state then you only need to ck. their reg's otherwise it can get tricky. Example: R.I. I believe only offers a permit on a yearly basis and the fee is large as compared to a daily or weekly permit. go tilt trl. no issues, but be sure engine oil does not travel up the lower tilt side engine cylinder walls when angled up. dry sump oil systems gen, solve that prob.j

Just Curious! What are they quoting you for insurance and what kind of layup period? I have been interested in both of these boats as well but I would avoid the Bravos as they will be your week link. I would think 525's with # six drives is the most reliable package you can get!

Can you really compare? Skater is the the one all others try and emulate.

Look at the race course, Skaters and MTI's, no sign of a Nor-Tech on the course.

The nortech offers the cabin, head ,shower etc, some people need these to keep everybody happy, the Skater and Mti offers more performance(epoxy constuction, nortech no epoxy)with the same hp,the 39 mti will haul butt with low hp,kilo record scl 133 mph 525 merc running bravos,i think.Speedmaster 6 the best way to go on all of these boats, but i hear the mti is a little easier on them then the skaters and nortechs, all awesome boats,my choice MTI

We have 2 36 Skaters in NJ and both broke the gear sets on number 6s. both around 900hp. I can not imagine a bravo or the bravo gimble lasting very long.

I love both boats, Nortech has never marketed the 36 as a raceboat whereas the Skater is a race boat. With that being said if you are planning on racing buy the Skater, but if not go with the Nortech. I prefer the looks and amenities of the Nortech myself and with the money saved vs the Skater could make it just as fast or faster if I wanted to. My .02

Nor-tech has made two 36 race boats, with 525 and bravos.

Nortech's company sales philosophy is that they do not want to be a pure race boat but a high quality, reliable, great looking performance boat with amenities that race boats don't offer, their market is more geared to the luxury performance buyer.

Not the point I was trying to make, The Skater was designed as a race boat from the start, the Nortech was not. Both are great boats but designed for a different purpose. wish I had one of each!
