is that a hopped up 550

I use to race stand-ups about 5 years ago. They are a blast to ride once you get the hang of it. I had a modifed Kawi 750 sxi.
If I was looking for one I would either buy a used Super Jet or 750 SXi. The 750 sxi is a little easier to ride for novice riders but the super jet has better reliability.

Hope this helps
Don

DUDE ! Is that an old Jeff Jacobs raceboat??? Same paint scheme he used to run...Perfomance Jet Ski... THAT brings back some memories! I've been riding standups since I was 11 years old (33 now) and to me there IS no other personal watercraft. I've been on a 72 mph full-race factory Yamaha sitdown and got bored...standups are WAAAAY more fun.

I've got a 1990 550SX with the motor out of it right now, and a modded-out 750SX.

I've got a 750 SXi and there is no way I'd sell it! I hadn't been on it for a couple of seasons but got it back out this summer, what a blast. Go for it.

I raced Stand Ups back in the day. Had a mod Superjet 701. The Superjet = THE BEST!! I bought mine new in 94. In 2000 I sold it to a friend and it still runs like new to this day. Go with a Yamaha, you'll be happy!

here were the two i found. the craigslist isnt a stand up but it looks like a good deal. the one at cal jet looks nice but i think it might be a bit over priced?

what should i be expecting insurance wise?

could never master the jet ski balance thing. plus almost getting neutered once while riding , by the pump,,,, yeah.

you may know this but that SD isn't a stand up. FWIW, sea-doo's with the early 957cc engines are prone to water injestion. There was a factory retrofit to help prevent that so make sure that was done. I'd still avoid that engine but that is just me.

Price seems a little high to me but if it is the perverbial 'cream puff' then perhaps.

can't help you on the stand up's...no real personal experience.

I know this is an old thread but I've beeen looking a little. Couple local ones for under $1000. Seems like a lot of fun for the price..... might wait until fall or winter and see if I can get one a little cheaper still!!

I have had a couple of 650sx and a hopped up 750sx. I got ride of my standups in favor of a Seadoo HX. Rides a lot like a standup but has a seat and is less tiring. I can ride it all day vs a few hours on the standup.
