Looks like alot of boat for the money. Almost suspiciously so. What's a 1987/1990? And is it $47,500 or $39,000?

Lastly, Viking Marine doesn't seem to really exist- no website, no directory listing. Have you spoken to these people?

In the big boat world (sport fish/motoryachts) you see that a lot, especially in that era. It means the boat is a 1987, but it wasn't put into service (i.e. sold) until 1990.

I see that alot as a designation of a major re-fit. An 18 year old refit on a 21 year-old boat isn't really bragging material. hard to believe a Cig would sit unsold for 3 years. '87 was a pretty good year economically.

I see that as well, on performance boats especially. But, the refit couldn't have been done in 1990, the parts it has aren't 1990 era... much newer.

1987 wasn't that great. I'm sure many people will remember a certain Monday that year.

That's a Flat Deck 38 (not a Top Gun) and I seriously doubt it's an '87. It has also been for sale on and off for the past few years.

You think it's older? the hatches don't look correct, but besides that I don't notice anything off.

Yes, it is older. The fairing is of a Flat Deck. Here is a 1987 38 Top Gun; you'll see the difference.

I could already tell it isn't a Top Gun... I thought they made a flat deck and a top gun in '87 so I'm asking what makes it older than '87. Just trying to learn.

Here's another '87 Flat Deck for sale: http://www.boats.com/listing/boat_de...&srh_next=true
