When I was a kid we had a 1974 Starcraft tri-hull with an 85 horse Chrysler Outboard. We ran the piss out of that thing WOT all the time and I can remember pulling as many as 4 waterskiers behind it as well.

Parents had a '72 Chrysler 16' 'Pro Bass Runner' bass boat with a 70hp Chrysler motor. We was chittin in high cotten.
Hull was a Cathedral style. (Tri Hull) It was rough to ride in. Felt like a peice of wood that slaps the water, not slice thu it.

At one point, Chrysler outboards became "Force" outboards. They were hit or miss. Some good ones and some bad one. A buddy of mine still has one on an 18' runabout and it runs strong. I think it is a late 80's model.

My Brothers friend had a Bayliner Capri with the Force way back in 1983. It was brand new at the time. That would be my best year guess. That guy's Brother also had a capri but 4cyl. and I roll stern drive! We blew that one up when the gas fumes sparked after fueling.

I remember Chryslet boats, but I remember their crappy outboards more vividly. When my dad was stationed at Panama City, they had two boats that the sailors could rent for $3 a weekend. One had an Evinrude 9.9, and the other had a Chrysler 15. When we'd get stuck renting the Chrysler, I swear we spent more time working on it, than we did fishing.
