Yeah they did! Used to see them on the dealer lot, right next to the cars - on Rte 17 in New Jersey back then.

You didn't really think that Bayliner was an original idea, did you?

In fact. Bayliner's pre-packaged engines were the original Chryslers.

Chrysler Motors

Chrysler made boats and outboard motors. Back in the 80's (I can't believe I can remember that far back) I had a pontoon boat with a Chrysler outboard. It had a belt from the crank to run the alternator (or generator?) . We called them "Kelvinators" because they looked like a miniture freezer. Evinruide also made a boat/outboard motor setup during the same time period.

Its too bad that someone very early in the evolution of our sport didn't make a shiftable reliable drive that could take the torque of today. Its also too bad that my joints can't take the torque that I've applied over the years. Life is, in fact, short. Live well.

my buddy redid a Chrysler sail boat (1977) it was nice for what it was with a ton of room to party on at this small lake around University of Miami (OH), another family friend has twin Chrysler 260-300 hp stern drives in his 32 foot cruiser, they run smooth

My first "real" boat was a 1972 Chrysler 15' center console with a 55hp Chrysler motor...great fun, real durable (2 molds, deck and hull, made up the whole boat)..not bad for a 12-year-old kid with a paper route!

my parents had a chrysler boat and a 105 outboard we had alot of fun in that boat and if I can remember that boat was the only one that ran without problems, their mercs and johnson's were nothing but trouble. my friend has a houseboat with twin 318's and eaton drives it runs nice

Am I wrong or did one of the Chrysler boats have big DeSoto-like fins?

I remember Chryslet boats, but I remember their crappy outboards more vividly. When my dad was stationed at Panama City, they had two boats that the sailors could rent for $3 a weekend. One had an Evinrude 9.9, and the other had a Chrysler 15. When we'd get stuck renting the Chrysler, I swear we spent more time working on it, than we did fishing.
