33 Powerplay speeds with 600hp
Anyone have any experiance with this hull? I know this hull is not the fastest, but what kind of realistic speeds should I expect to see with a solid 600Hp per side in a 94 33 Powerplay sportdeck? Would my expectations be too high if I was thinking mid to high 80s?
Thanks, Frank |

Awsome! Do you remember what year that one was?
Thanks, Frank |
I think it was a '96 but the bottom design through that period was the same so unless it was layed up with a different material any 33 from that era should be very similar.

JROMY has a 33' with the Merc 525s and he gets 87, all stock engines and props.

Scott Utah's F2 33 Powerplay with HP500's ran around 83mph. Another couple 100hp should put you at 90+ @ WOT. With today prop technology and if the bottom and drives are really good you should do a little better.

I had a 1997 33' Powerplay race model (3 man bolster) with staggered HP 500's-- she ran around 84mph top speed with 3 blade Mirage's.
I think with 600's you should be in the high 80's- low 90's. I can tell you that it's a BADA$$ hull for sure! |

With stock HP500's my 33 ran 80.
|
Is there any speed difference between the taller post 95 hulls, vs the lower pre 95 hulls? I'm guessing the pre 95's weight less.
Thanks, Frank |
I would assume that the post 95 hulls would be a tad slower due to having more free board thus being a little heaver.

When I worked at the marina a guy had a 33' PP with 600-650HP 540's... boat ran like 91-93mph if I remember correctly. Pretty sure it was a late 90's hull, maybe even 2000 or so...
|
The new hull mold was done in 94 the newer boats should run slightly faster with the refaired bottom!
|
The boat should run 88-91 depending on boat setup. I've seen 78-82 on 500hp boats just with prop changes.
|
On your low deck hull 500 pushed them around 80,600 should get you around 86-88 depends on set up,actual hull weight and bottom condition, boat loves bay water and really well built.
|
Already doing the motors eh Frank? Sorry I haven't called you back! between working lots of O/T and working on the boat and family my free time has been very limmited to say the least....
Dropped my engines off last weekend, hoping for 625-650HP can't wait to get her back together and on the water..............Jason |
Good luck to you guys. Look forward to seeing your #'s when there done.
I'd like to try a couple of 7-10 Ilmors and some Konrads if $ was no object. I wonder how they would work in a 33? |
Thanks....
