Is it just me?

I've noticed an increased involvement and posts from marine manufacturers and industry partners on OSO of late. I wonder why?

This is all good for OSO and it's members, I hope this keeps up.

OSO 12-13-2007 03:00 PM

Some of them just have to pop the Cherry.

I always tell them, people learn from you they will buy from you.

I think its great hope this helps set the stage.

Lofty 12-13-2007 03:04 PM

I agree with that! Seems coincidental but I don't think it is.

Regardless, it's good for everyone.

Audiofn 12-13-2007 03:04 PM

The one thing that has always been missing. Hope the trend continues.

I have traveled to a lot of shops and manufacturing plants, etc.

This is what I hear over and over:

1. Our company policy is we are not allowed to post on there
2. I don't post on there because some "know it all" is just going to come tell me he knows more.

Chris Sunkin 12-13-2007 03:21 PM

I think it's great that we have actual, knowledgeable professionals who could contribute. I'd love to see more manufacturers contributing.

At the same time, I've also been seeing alot of vendors jumping into "where can I find..." posts which hasn't really been seen in the past. I haven't seen anything that I'd consider objectionable but I hope it's not a trend. I wouldn't want to see threads jammed up with "infomercials" from every vendor out there.

US1 Fountain 12-13-2007 03:36 PM

Yes! Noticed for the last couple weeks there has been more activity in the advertisers marketplace. A much more enjoyable atmoshpere now. Not the same advertisor constant ly bumping his ads with worthless TTT postings with meaningless post. I always figured all the other advertisors got tired of spending time to place their ads, only to have, I'll call himFred, bump his to the top and bury theirs.

I LIKE the way things turned out!

TexomaPowerboater 12-13-2007 04:14 PM

Definately makes for a better forum.

dwtinc 12-13-2007 04:22 PM

Seems that all the people are getting along better. OSO is the number 1 site for performance boating and the ones involved is a great group of people. Lots of information to be learned here from manufactures and distributors.

Agree with #2, and you can add that some dissatisfied (reasonably or unreasonably) customer will come on and let the crap fly. I wouldn't get near a board if I were a manufacturer, too many boneheads out there.

and that is why they say number 1 also.

Thats too bad. There has been alot of knowledge and info shared here. Most very good and reliable. Hopefully more will contribute.

The "know it alls" usually get pounded on pretty quick. :D

f311fr1 12-13-2007 05:24 PM

I think advise from manufacturers on specific posts is an invaluable resource.

agreed. knowledge is great, only when it comes from someone who has years of professional experience in the business. The problem is you have a few guys who buy and build a few boats, not only later to go through a few shady shams, and believe they know it all. It takes years in this business, and you do it for the love of the sport, cause you sure are not going to get rich off of it.

ILMORdude 12-13-2007 11:14 PM

I like getting feedback on here. It helps to hear owners talk and see what they think/suggest. Plus the people are great on here, love OSO

We have lost a LOT of knowledgeable(?) people around here due to "know-it-alls" that beat them down. I miss them and their wisdom.

McCollinsTN comes to mind among many others I am sure have quietly left us. :(

I have noticed more behind-the-scenes people contributing lately. It is a welcome addition.

fountain4play 12-13-2007 11:21 PM

Personally I enjoy when the manufacturer's or their rep's get involved in a thread, they tend to bring facts and not stories to the discussions.

It's always hard sometimes to wade through the b.s. to try and figure out what's real, just someone's bias or perception on a particular subject.

Especially when your trying to weigh the "pro's & con's" of something your interested in.

I hope it continues it makes for good informative reading at times...

No, it's a sister boat to mine. Funny thing is I've walked down the dock and almost climbed in that boat thinking it was mine.

This should be OSO mods standard avitar :D

ActiveThunder 12-14-2007 03:41 PM

I feel that OSO is a great avenue of information. Only I think the avenue is a 2-way street. I learn as much from the board as anybody here.

We gain a lot of information that helps us build a better boat thru thoughts, pictures and ideas posted on OSO. These are things we pay strict attention to.

I never worry about getting hammered. Usually if it is unfounded it is obvious. If it IS founded it helps to correct our weaknesses.

The most amusing part is when somebody comes by the factory. They usually introduce themselves and then, inevitably, follow with "and I'm so-and-so on OSO".....

But probably the nicest part though, is being able to interact with the people that are the proud owners of our boats on a regular basis and then to plan and attend events together.

It always blows me away when I think about what an impact this site has had and how it has effected AT's business. What a wide circle of friends we have made through out the country because of OSO!

This should help with the confusion. Now I just have to remember my boat's not the red one.
