Hello from newbee
Been reading for a few months and bought a older offshore boat.
Was not sure if I should be posting in the "classic" section or not.. It is a 88 42' wellcraft excalibur eagle. Kinda family sytle offshore, with head, a/c and generator. Not real fast as it just has stock 502's. My question is to those who might have owned on of these. Is the TRS outdrives any good? What are quality props and what pitch? If I was to build the motors a little, would it really be worth it? I am not trying to go fast, just like the sound/feel of built motors. I know it can't be a fast boat, by weight and design. But, it should be fun and love the fact I do not have to look for a head for my wife anymore. The price was right and will need to do a little work on it before I take it out. I have had many other boats, non this large and most of the time just on the river and in lakes. All in all what kind of boat is this and how well are the built? The hull looks great and from what I hear are strong, as this one has no stress cracks. As soon as I can I would like to take it out for a test run to see if the outdrives are still in good shape. Would like to hear from any knowing about this boat. Thanks 42' |
Hey! From what I know, that's a very nice boat. I'll take the AC, etc. any day over absolute speed. You will find many experts on OSO and welcome by the way. TRS drives are solid. I think there are a few members on OSO who have that boat and can / will give you some good advice. The 80's were good years for Wellcraft. You should be A-ok.
