ARE YOU FEELING OK!!!!!!!! :D :D :D
you are one sick puppy!!!!!!!!!!! :D
Beautiful setup ! But I have to ask ...........
Isn't that a boat motor ? Don't they run at cooler temps with sea water? Isn't the extra heat going to cook it due to different tolerences and clearances in boats and cars ? I know after running my motor at 180 for a short while it was time for new pistons and a rebuild ! Just wondering if that crossed your mind . Good luck with it ! I miss my old pro streeter :( [ 01-28-2002: Message edited by: boot ] [ 01-28-2002: Message edited by: boot ] |

AWESOME SET UP DUDE!
Looks like they even took the Stellings exhaust and flipped it over. Wonder if they are using a low water pickup...
sweet, and very interesting :D :D :D

Ya Glassdave has moved up to sniffing the Eurathane paint fumes like Imron!!! :D :D
Looks good. Did you leave the internals the same in the valvetrain? Nice job!!
looks great man :D :D
It's coming together very nicely, J. ;)
Awesome! |
That is a very nice setup! Pretty expensive for automotive don't you think? Looks great in there. I'm curious about the cooling as well. Looks like you have a nice big radiator and fan...what temps are you expecting to run at??? Nice work!!!!
Looks Good!
What is it? 67 Camaro? |
Awesome
Too Cool!!!!!
THATS GREAT
The cops must have found that stolen boat moter in his car and locked him up ! YOu notice he hasen't replied !
Just kidding Adivanman ! Just kidding :D :D |
Looks good, you must have gotten a real good deal on that engine.

Front tires.........toe in or out?
"Sure is purty, how much hp you got there son?".... "About 470 at the prop." :D :D |
Thanks for the comments - it's not finished yet but it does run and scoped with no codes on the scan tool. To address some of the questions...
Cooling should not be an issue. Keep in mind when we are in the boats and the temperature rised to over 180 degrees, we have a mechanical problem, not a cooling issue. It is not fair to compare an open boat cooling system with a closed automotive cooling system. 180 degrees has never hurt anything - the problem is that if you go from 150/160 to 180 plus, your raw water impeller has caved and you have no (or less) water flowing through the block. Once you reach 200 (still a safe temperature in an automotive closed system) water begins to boil and there is nothing you can do on the water. You're toast. In a car, you have antifreeze (or other cooling assistants) which do not boil and can sustain temperatures in around 190-200 without failing. In a boat, first the delivery system fails, then the motor - coolant is not the issue. The motor is real - inside and out. It would CRE anytime with no problem. Full harness, Mercury Racing ECU, the whole migilla. The motor was expensive. You all know how much. It's real and that's what they are worth. The car is a 1967 Camaro RS - former Super Stock record holder, now a licensed and insured street car. Turbo 400 automatice, Ford 9" rear, 16.5" wide Mickey Thompsons (rotating in). Interior has Gaffrig Monster gauges (soon to include a GPS Speedo) and is basically stock. Remote Oil Filter is a killer Rex Marine piece - thanks to Mike at Doller Offshore for that one. Lots of help from Gene Weeks at Thunder Performance and especially High-Tide (thanks). I will let you all know when it is done. Next stop, lake X. |
Yeah, that just about pegs the cool-o-meter!
I want a ride!! I have always wanted to do that!
You really know how to break an f1 guys heart...we could use a spare....what did you do with the drive?
looks awsome.what kind of HULL is that anyway ?
Adivanman,
Way cool ride! I know what you mean about being pricey, but they are indeed the "real deal". I figure you might enjoy these two pictures as well. I took these pictures last year up in Northern Michigan. If you are going to butcher a '66 Vette, I guess this would be the way to do it... As per many requests, the pictures are now "enlargable". Just click on the thumbnail and it will open a new bigger picture. Thanks for the emails.

Give it one season, and then time to call Dustin!!!
Brian |
adivanman that is a sweet setup. just a little tech advice that im sure that you are aware of, an that is, i ran a similar setup in my 71 camaro and i lost a ton of HP using that KN front mounted air filter.these injected engines do NOT like hot air directly from the radiator.might want to look into some ducting for outside air.man i bet your just itch'n to drive that thing. you will kick ass on the street an still be able to drive anywhere.gotta love that reliability of FI
Sydwayz23 - Don't need to call Dustin just yet - I've already called Mike. Throttle in the bottle. ;)
Glassdave - High Tide and I have been working through a ducting system for a while now. Problem is, the more that I look at the thing, the less likely I think it is to run with a hood. Let it all hang out! :) |
