Its coming into Freeport, L.I. its looking for Ozzie
Ask the the 2 boats in the JACKSONVILLE POKER RUN, about running up on a sub in the channel. Running 130 mph they said the 50 cal machine guns looked very large.
We had one come up out of the water near us when we were bringing a boat up from Florida. It scared the ever loving crap out of me!!! It was not that close (probably 2-300 yards away) but it just made you think what if they did not see us!!!
I watched a US sub leave Norfolk this past summer....I don't think this one is our (U.S.). The soviets have some subs that are much bigger than ours and the guy on the beach in a "banana hammock" suggests to me that this pic was taken overseas.
I think it is a Typhoon class Russian sub. They are around 600 ft long
crossed a subs wake on the way to block island.
it was heading into groton, ct. didn't see it, until after crossing 7-8ft wake. it was about 3/4 mi away. |

Looks to me like a Russian Typhoon class ballistic submarine.....like in the movie Red October.
thats a Russian Sub, it looks like a Akula cass II sub or a late model thyphoon, a Russian Nuclar sub would not surface off the cost?, great photo, the pic if from a forighn place, not off our coast.

Here is the one in Jax. The patrol boats around it brought us down to a crawl and directed us away from the sub at gun point. They also told us not to take pictures but my wife just clicked away anyhow.
