I use in all my diesel trucks a product called Dura Lube, have for years. I have some Ford 6.0's and a 04 Duramax with 153k miles on them, both run like champs. No motor issues and both trucks after about 30k, just pull trailers. I even used the product in the trannies and temp gauges before the trailer pull were about 15-25 degrees cooler on the aftermarket gauges. NOW..I change oil every 5k miles...Keep a stringent maint. sched...dont know if it's luck, or does the product possibly work, and want to know if other people have tried it, and what was the results. Dont know if it would be good for the Merc 700's, thats the reason for the thread. Thanks Jeff
Jazz we put it in some hp 500s and started using a quart of oil per motor ever tankfull ,had to rehone with 32 hours

This stuff has been in industrial lubricants for years. The biggest issue with these additives is the "snake oil" marketing that's been done over the years. It's hard to sell someone a $34.95 bottle of magic additive when it has a few cents worth of dust suspended in a pint of mineral oil- that is, if you tell them the truth.

As far as why oil companies haven't included them- it's anybody's guess. As I said, the only place you could conveivably identify a downside is that they would be an impediment to new engine break-in.

No offense taken...the difference between your gas motors vs my diesels is 90% of the time these diesels are towing my 8k-14k trailers or my 43 Nortech at one time or another. Jeff

Seems to me most failures on production high performance motors are valve and spring or head gasket related. These problems usually occur before the oiled parts are wore out.
