Anyone take their dogs out for weekends?

My Fiancee' just brought a puppy home and I was wondering if it is a hassle or what not to take the dog with you for weekend trips?
Can she take a dump on the swim platform ect?
What do you guys think?
Thanks
Jason

We have a beagle and he loves to go for boat rides. He gets excited when I even approach the "Boat Bag."

If you want to go out for relaxation and 'getting away,' I'd leave the dog at home. I don't know anything about your dog, but ours' can't sit still for very long and like to run around and play so he's only good for short periods of time. He definately comes along when we go to the island or somewhere he can hang out, though.

If you can figure out how to make him/her go do his/her thing off the swim platform, let me know. We can't seem to convince ours' to. ;) :D

Our dogs go everywhere with us, even in the airplane. It's no trouble for us because we enjoy their company.

Well it is a Peekingneese (sp?)
she is 3.5 lbs and almost fully grown
She might tip the scales at about 5 lbs when fully grown (about 10 inches from head to tail)
so her ummm uhhhh well ahhh excretions yeah thats it excretions are about the size of a rabbit pellet so we are not talking like a monster pile here or anything. Seriously how much can a 3.5 lb dog eat? A can of food lasts 4 days and that is 2 meals per day. She likes to run and play but she wont have that far to go BUT running from v berth to backseat in cockpit might be like the 100 yard dash for her since she is so tiny.
Just wanted to see others input on this so I dont make a big mistake and take her out and have it backfire on me.
I am going to teach the dog to swim this spring in the swimming pool so ill be able to let her hang on platform with me and hoisting her into the boat is to bend down and scoop her out of the water.
Probably get a inflatable swimmie arm band thing to put around her -- probably fit
Thanks
Jason

Sounds like you could use the dog as a fly and go fly-fishing with her.

Definatly use some sort of floating device in the early days.

Sean :)
