The boat I looked at was green camo. They are bad azz boats.They are dropped out of C-130's with parachutes and the seals follow in after them hit the switches and go.. they were equipped with 575's and speed masters.
Most of them at auction have either .50cal holes in them or fork lift punctures.
It's a shame, they gut boats and then do this to de-commission them. liability reasons then they sell them as salvage.
They are super tough. The lifting ring sare glassed in to the hull, the hull and deck are glassed together several times over and they are double hulled kevlar.
I did the old hit the side of the hull test and sworeI hit the side of a brick building.
One out there was converted to a CC, story is they went through ever type o fblade imaginable to cut top deck open.
They finally had to use a torch to cut it open!!!

Unfortunatly I could not open the pics in post #14. I'm not sure which boats were being shown. Being a former SEAL and spending time in the Special Boat Unit, I have been around HSB's a lot. The term HSB is a generic term that we use for the offshore boats. We have used 41ft Fountains, Halter Marine, and USMI's. Engines were originally 500 Bulldogs, then went to Innovation Marine's 557's. Then eventually 575's. The USMI boats are the newer versions and were designed for the Navy. These boats are VERY strong and VERY heavy...About 15K pounds. They may not be the fastest hulls but they CRUSH waves. These boats are Cadilacs. MUCH, much better than any of the Combat RHIBs that are employed today. And because of the tall freeboard, they provide a dry ride for the crew... A good thing when it's -10 degrees outside.

The 83' boat is called a MkV (mark 5 for civvies). All fly by wire, and controlled by a joystick. It has twin diesels (and they ain't no cummins), and jet drives. The boat can go from full ahead, 45knts plus, to a full stop in just over a boat lenght. Simply slam the buckets in reverse and keep the throttles pinned. Ya never know when you need to stop FAST. The seats are suspension types and have about 6" of travel. This helps on looong transits.
