When looking at intercom systems I was going to go with Pirate Com as well...they were very responsive.

I ended up going with the RCI wireless headsets...as an alternative to a wired system they are great. You don't have cords all over the place, can use them for other things, can easily move them form boat to boat, work on conventional or rechargable batteries, have a surround feature that lets you turn up the ambiewnt noise level to hear the engines. You can also get a VHF radio hookup. The only drawback is you can't pipe stereo thru them. OSO Steve recommended them a while back; you can see them in this thread;

I have heard that the wirless setup is not as clear or crisp as the wired. I don't want the vhf or stereo in my headset, too distracting. That is a nice feature to be able to turn up the ambient noise, to listen to the engines. I prefer to be able to hear them. What kind of cost range is the wirless RCI Units?

The voice quality was fine...as with most wind is the biggest issue...requires you to occaisionally use the push to talk vs. the voice activated. They run about $500 a headset.
