In order to make an opinion could you tell us how much money you have into the boat. When was the boat bought and for how much? How much have you spent in MAJOR repairs and or replacement items? What condition is the boat in? What kind of REAL money is this boat getting in today's market?

Generally speaking I probobly wouldn't put that much more money into it unless you think you can get it back. So if you see your stinger selling for $10K and you see ones in better shape going for A LOT more then go for it. A lot of people would probobly disagree and if I had the money I'd probobly feel the same way.

well, they sell for what,,, 13k? 15K some maybe closer to 20k?
I had one (84) and restored it. had the chance to sell it 2 years ago for 30 some k. spent 7500$ on engines to rebuild them. only ran it once and got 61 gps with twin 275 hp / alpha / mirage 21. bought it for 13k spent 20 k restoring it... that is without counting all the man hours I spent in it (500 hours and over). it's a big 26 footer, not that fast, but pretty good in the rought!

I had an 85 and it was a great boat, best bang for the buck really. I went through everything on mine. Paint, cockpit, power an a bunch of other misc stuff. That boat was tons of fun and wasnt to bad in snotty Lake Erie water either. Lots of room for a 26 footer to. Best i ever saw was 60 with twin small blocks warmed up to maybe 300 a side (over proped but i liked the cruise i got out of them) i could regularly get around that yellow 28 Mag in the pic bellow . With the Alphas you dont want to get to nuts but i'm sure they could have taken a bit more HP(not much though), I kept this thing pretty turn key for the most part. When it came time to move up it was hard to get anyone to look at it in the 13-15K range (forget about 20's) bottom line is thats all they will ever be worth, an honestly i was fine with that because of how much use i actually got out of it. I ended up trading it in towards a 34' Scarab III. I mis the Scorpion, it really was one of the best, funnest boats i ever had. I dont regret going through that boat one bit

Dave, I forgot about that link with all the pics, and of course, the movies-definitely great stuff. Reminded me of how bad I want to get mine back in the water.-Bill

Had an 87 CC260 with twin sbcs and cobra drives.
Motors were pretty stock.

If the bottom was clean I could get maybe 55, trimmed right.

They are lead sleds.

I doubt that you will get more than a couple mph out of it with all the improvements. To me, it's an issue of whether or not you like the boat. It will never be super fast. Fast enough maybe.
