MTI on Barrett Jackson

I didn't get to see the auction. Does anyone know what the repainted Miami Vice Mojo boat ended up bringing? Did it make the reserve?

MES 01-09-2008 07:29 PM

It doesn't run until the 19th.

dreamer 01-09-2008 07:59 PM

and its NOT the miami vice mojo boat repainted

Formulabill 01-09-2008 10:10 PM

There is no reserve at a BARRETT- JACKSON auction. Once you register in, the vehicle will be sold to highest bidder.

44MTI 01-09-2008 10:19 PM

It is the Mojo boat but parts of it have been repainted to the new owners liking.

I am providing lighting for the GM booth, we loaded in today. Eliminator has a 36 cat there and Formula has a 35? out there as well. I am doing the entire run so I will post up some pics as I get them.

So the boat that shows Colin F., and the girl driving to Cuba, was sold, repainted as the new owner wanted, and now it's going across the block at Barrett...correct?

.... these Mojo boats are a tad daunting to keep track of what's going on with them.

getchasum111 01-10-2008 09:09 AM

i am curious to see what it will bring at a no reserve auction...

I didn't say that. There were 3 MTI's used in the movie. 2 New ones and Bob Bull's race boat. After the Movie people were done, one was sold to Randy's brother-in-law and painted red and silver with a large MOJO on the side. This boat has been all over the country on display and is very well known as the MOJO boat, especially here on OSO. It was traded to another guy from LOTO who changed a few of the graphics so he could send it out to the Auction. David Woods still has the other boat listed for sale on the Pier 57 web site. Hope that clears it up for you.

You have the ability to put a reserve on any thing going thru. It is up to the seller if he wants a no-reserve sale. Even with that if the bid is too low he can have someone in the bidding area bid it up to a real number so he does not lose.

Not true. My Uncle is the VP of Consignments for Barrett Jackson and all auctions are NO RESERVE. If it goes on the block, it will be sold.

Granted, you can buy it back yourself to keep from letting it go to low but then you have to pay the buyers and sellers percentage to Barrett Jackson.

yah at 18 percent.......

I am down here in Scottsdale right now to work the auction hauling back cars to Canada, probably be a big year for Canadians with the dollar and all.

I will try and get some pics of the boat at the auction and post them here (if I can figure out how)

RHC 01-10-2008 12:31 PM

All it takes to have an Auction is one buyer, and the Auctioneer!! and thats a fact !! :D

That's tough to understand. In the world of automotive rarities, I can see where the auction mentality can overtake people and drive the cars up, but a boat? It's not like you couldn't find one in the classifieds.

open87 01-10-2008 01:27 PM

and what about tax? i watch the auction every year for a few hours and they talk about what the car sold for , buyers premium and tax.. or am i missing something?

and isn't that illegal to have someone schill(sp) bidding?

MES 01-10-2008 01:28 PM

Riddle me this........If there are 3 MOJO MTI's, how many MOJO Hummer's are there?

Definitely illegal, tough to detect and exceptionally rare to see prosecutions.

It's not shill bidding if the properly-identified owner is doing the bidding. Some auctions allow the owner to match the bid and assume the fees.

Xactly SEA its a no reserve and if you dont want it to go to cheap either buy it back and pay the 10% or dont sent it thru .

this is what will happen when you buy back
sale price +fees= check you write
yep you write a check for the total.
example
100,000 + 10%+10%=120k that you will have to pay them to get it back and in a month or 2 they will cut you a check for 100k
im not sure but the buyer and seller fees might be more they told me but i didnt write it down.
its 500 just to get the bidders paddle 1500 to go on stage and park close to west world
what is the craziest thing i was told if you bring Certified funds(check) to bid and dont spend it they cash and send a BJ check in a month or 2
and as a seller you pay huge cash for a prime lot number saturday at 1:30 pm might be 2k

SWEEEEEEET !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thnx for the pics :cool-smiley-027:

the bear 01-11-2008 07:49 AM

What does the H2 look like?

texaschopper 01-11-2008 08:57 AM

44MTI- yes thanks for clearing that up for me.

It does seem a tad silly to pay those fees, when most likely anyone who has an interest in buying this boat, probably already knows about the boat long beforehand.

I'm only guessing...maybe Barret J. cuts a commission on something like this for the purpose of using it as a "stray from the norm" attraction and get different people in new circles talking.
