Saturday on the San Jacinto River

This was the scene in our neighborhood this weekend. The Byuboyz held their "outlaw" Winternationals. Which is officially a test and tune session:D The local authorities are always nowhere to be found which is very cool of them as the sound of two blown jets or nitrous powered mercs making a pass is unmistakable, around 40 boats were involved and some awesome side by side passes were made

We have been talking about it for a while, but it has been some time since anyone has been up that way. The guys I run with have short memories, we need a guide. I heard there are a couple of beaches and some nice areas on the river. Count me in on a run.

I don't know the year, but the guy was on it. He won most of his races with a hole shot and was only beaten once all day. In that picture he had moved about 8' since punching it. Nothing but prop in the water for the rest of the way |

33 Miles from the Turtle Club to Banana Bend |

It's about half way between the I-10 bridge and the Lake Houston dam. Most of the channel is 12-18' deep from I-10 past Banana Bend and up to the railroad bridge just north of the new Hwy 90 bridge. At that point it can be as shallow as 3-4' for about half a mile then good and deep from there up to the dam. There are several beaches an island and 3 bars accessible from the river. Only way past the dam is by trailer:D |
That looks like a lot of fun. Might be worth a trip later this year. I assume the crowds get pretty big along the beaches in the summer?

Not sure lefty had to get a new drive BM22 Sent both engines to ateco, one for a full rebuild,I think he threw a rod. Louie's was fixed under warranty from what i heard. Nothing like blowing an engine in front of a barge coming at you full speed:eek:Or having your chit catch fire and don't have a fire ext.:grinser010: We started with 6 boats and only 2 made it under full power. http://youtube.com/watch?v=rUQn7la9abE |
