looking for a boat in the 50,000...

hi every one, and thank you for this great boat community !

i'm the owner of a hydrostream 17 :D and very interested in speed boats for a while now and would like to come to a bigger boat..with good performances.
i live in the carribean, so always on ocean and open water..
i would like to buy a used boat on us market 'cause prices are very attractives. but am so afraid to buy a dumb..

so that's why I post here to get some advice on boats for sale..

sorry for my english (i'm french) and low aknowledge..

i'm looking for a boat of more than 25' with twins for safety with great speed and roomy.. with cabin appointment if possible
i saw several boat that could be great as a powerplay 33 sport deck with outboards as in my area it's more simple to service outboards than inboards..

in the classifieds, i saw a cig decathlon that would be good for the great space aboard

i'm also interested in cats but don't know if they would be suitable for my use..

at this buget, not looking for last models of course but great boat to have fun..

thanks for your advices..

if you know for good poeple for the shipping, would be great too.. :cool-smiley-011:

From the research I have been doing for my own boat search, I have found cats to be out of this price range.

The feedback I have gotten on Formula boats would be appropriate for your usage IMO... Durable, good value, pretty good on big water. Here are some examples:

An older Cigarette Bullet would have plently of cabin space for you. A formula 292 is also a nice ride.

Enjoy your search! :D

I have a fast 27' Fountain for 42k.

Rob

superchabin 01-15-2008 01:30 PM

thanks, but for Clay, isn't the decathlon the same hull than the bullet but without the deck ?

what do you think about the one in the classifieds ?

for baddogz, thanks but it's just too expensive for my money...

in that spirit i was very interested in the 357sr1... :cool-smiley-027:

for the cats i was thinking about older cats as chris cats or warlock....

The owner should be posting it here for sale soon.
If you look at the recent thread about '28s for sale' in the saber forum, you will see the owners posts towards the end.

Griff 01-15-2008 05:23 PM

A 27 Fountain is anything but roomy and is only a single engine.

Lofty 01-15-2008 05:28 PM

30' Donzi with fresh power?

The 1987 Cigarette Decathalon is a totally different boat than a Bullet. I don't know if it is the same hull, but the Decathalon is definelty a salt-water boat! :D

If you want a comfortable cabin, a Bullet is a good choice. But, since you live in the Carribean, the Decathalon with its center console and triple outboards might be your best choice.

Just my two-cents...

28 pantera center console. Voted by OSO as the best rough water 28ft boat.

There is a beautiful 28 Powerplay in the classifieds located in Miami.

Superchabin,

I have the perfect boat for you:D

2001 Baja Sportfish Center Console with Mercury EFI 250 Saltwater Series Outboards.
It is in your price range.

http://www.offshoreonlyclassifieds.c...o18612-en.html

I let the add expire a few months ago but just re-listed it.

The Cigarette Decathlon Came before The Bullet. I was told the Hull was the same but obviously the deck is different.

I had a 1987 with triple 220 Mercs.

I seriously doubt the one in the classifieds will run 80mph.

You'll have spare cash for freight and a cleanup.

He should have pictures of what the boat looks like now after the lower units were stolen from it + other things.

Clay Washington 01-16-2008 11:19 AM

If I lived in the Caribbean, I would prefer outboards. It's just easier to clean and maintain outboards in a saltwater environment.

Just my two-cents...

yess you're right Clay

for the outboards, and also the decathlon, that's what i was saying in my first post..

but i consider all offers... below 50,000 :party-smiley-004:

a turn key CC with outboard or a roomy sportdeck.. with a great cabin for my 2 meters high.. .. or a 30' cat with a cabin if it's suitable for my place...

are all the boats proposed suitable for saltwater use ?

Mine are 2001 Mercury EFI 250 Saltwater Series so they are made for it. Here is a picture but I am not sure if you will be able to view it without a membership to the site. I remember when I did not have one some pictures in the post did not come up.

wananewboat 01-16-2008 04:53 PM

What would the cost of two new lower units for that boat be?
If the lower units were stolen, did anything else happen to the boat?

Hollowpoint 01-16-2008 06:58 PM

Stepping from the Hydrostream to the 30' Donzi with fresh power will be a fairly slow boat with 7.4's.

How's a 35' Cigarette Mistress with 540ci motors sound? Should 70+ mph. The guy wants $45K for it.

Also, the 38' Top Gun for $55K seems like a GREAT deal.

I;d be take'n a long hard look at that one for sure. TRS but for the price I'd put up with'em for a while then look at Konrads down the road.

Brand new the MSRP on a new single lower unit is around $5000. There are used ones out there priced all over the place. Who knows maybe you could buy the stolen ones off the thief that took them.

I do not know if you caught it or not but the trailer is not included in that auction.

The guy listed a phone number in the ad. I would call and ask him a bunch of questions and get some recent pictures.

I might be reading between the lines to much but something seams fishy. Why would the thief take the stupid cabin cushions and leave the expensive stuff? Why would the owner bother to just replace the rear seat cushion? I would think he would slap on a pair of used lower units and try and get the most he could for the boat since it is so new. I would be leary that something might also be wrong with the motors and since it does not have lower units you can not water test the boat.
It might be fine just some things do not add up.

cmbracer 01-17-2008 10:08 AM

Might be a little small, but look at this cat.
