Default Best Upgrades 496ho???

I'm looking to dump between $5-10k this spring into my 496HO I was wondering what upgrades would be recommended in this price range and still retain reliability.I'm am also considering moving up to a twin 496HO boat within a year and would like to be able to reinstall this upgrades into the next boat .Any suggestions?

Whipple. And you don't have to pull the motors apart.

sorry, but the cmi's wont really help speed on their own....they do sound great but are wayyyyyy to expensive. Do the raylar or whipple it and combine one of those with the CMI's.

When a bubby Whippled his HO in a 28ft Conquest Cat, he went from 60 to 76MPH. Thats a big jump.

They are all good, just different price points.

100 lbs..? not from 496 exhaust(already aluminum.) Getting rid of the cast iron heads, yes. The 496 exhaust upgrades just dont justify their high cost. Lots of threads on this. The stock units flow pretty well.

The CMI exhaust looks great and adds sound, but wont increase perfomance, at lease not on my old boat, I gained nothing from the exhaust change, but it did take awhile to install.
