388 stroker questions

Hey guys I am looking at a 388 stroker kit. I am trying to determine what gen block I should use i am either going w/ a 1976 350 or a 1997 350. If I go with the newer block I will most likley use the vortec heads. Other wise I would go with spportsman head. Any suggestions?

I was also told that there was a 4.25 stroke kit that does not require any grinding ever here of this?
