toms rive NJ steep ramp?

Guys,

I am looking for a steep deep ramp near toms river nj to launch my 28 cig. It is on a very high eagle trailer. I had it in 1 time last year on the pine beach ramp and it was not good. I got the boat off the trailer but to get it back on I had to wait untill high tide and still only got it 85% on the trailer. I live directly accross the river so it was no big deal waiting. I am working on the restoration and plan on leaving the boat on the trailer and launching it when I want to use it. I just dont want to drive 10 miles away.

Any sugestions?

Thanks

Chris

Yo Chris, not familiar with ramps up by you :( but if you plan on doing this fairly regularly, I'd prolly be looking for different trailer or possibilities of modifying that one, lowering it, and make your life a helluva lot easier. ;)

If this was just in for the season and out in the fall, I was going to suggest my guy to travel lift it. He does for me cheap and would do me a favor, but you're not a one or two shot deal ... you are looking for something regularly ... plus I'm @10 miles away.

Anyway, maybe someone will suggest something steep and deep. Otherwise my travel lift guy is available in a pinch and you can even leave boat at my place ... anytime! :D :drink:

Pine Beach Municipal Boat ramp....
Ocean Gate Yacht Basin....
Good Luck Point Marina....

All the above are listed as concrete ramps with adequate water depth at low tide.

make yourself an aluminum trailer with 13" wheels for the ramp.
If
you live across the street it doesn't have to be pretty.

i've launched my 29 scarab, 30 spectre, and 353 fastec all at the Beachwood Ramp...end of Toms River on left hand side just before you enter the no wake zone

We have a steep ramp over here at Coty Marine on Fischer Blvd. If thats not to far.

Jigsaw89 01-26-2008 10:47 AM

Count out the ramps at Gilford Park Yacht Club and the one in Island Heights by Marty's Marine Repair.

Hauling Trash 01-26-2008 11:31 AM

I use the Beachwood ramp, I have seen some big boats come out of there.

No doudt. Have to agree with Bern and Hauling Trash. The Beachwood Municipal Boat Ramp should work very well for what you need to do. Of course be sure to watch the tide charts when you go to launch. The water levels in Barnaget Bay have been very low at times this year do to the occasional west winds that we see in our area.

I used Beachwood last year a few times with no problems,
however I think you need a permit. I don't know if they
enforce in winter, but in summer they have an officer
patrol pretty regular. ( no permit for me ....connections.:D)

Toms River is very limited on boat ramps, most municipal ramps have been closed due to insurance reasons. If you don't want to dunk Typhoon Service Center has excellent rates for in and out service with a travel lift.

Coty's ramp on fisher is good , friend used to have the service end of the business there when it was rispolis and just after coty bought it. Have used that ramp many times with the scarab and my buds 40 scarab , 40 hustler , 35 beak. Just don't think he'll let you park there , not even shure he'll even let you launch there anymore. Coty just wants to sell boats , not much for services. njgr8ful turned me on to a couple marinas in forked river last summer that worked out to be the shiz for me.

the ramps in jersey suck....

Xchoke03 01-26-2008 07:33 PM

Seaside Heights ramp over by the base of the Bridge. I put my Cafe Racer in and out of there a ton of times.

Jigsaw89 01-26-2008 07:46 PM

I use this ramp to launch and retrieve two of my boats every season and IMO would suggest you use a different ramp if you're looking for "steep" and "deep water." Unless it's high tide or close to it, you're very likely going to be churning up the bottom of the channel.

Hey Huntser, glad those work for you  They are good, deep water, ramps on Forked River, but of course too far for Chris. We gotta hook up this summer at Tice's or the Captain's Inn or SouthWinds. Spring is comin' quick (I better get to work on mine!) :evilb: :drink:

chrissbb 01-27-2008 08:22 AM

Thanks for the help guys

I looked at cutting the trailer down but could only gain about 2". I also thought about putting a smaller wheel / tire. there are 950x16.5's on the trailer now.

I am going to check out Beachwood. I know in Pine beach you need to be a resident to get a ramp permit. My friend lives there and I went over with him last year. Toms River is B.S. they spend tons of money changing their "name" to reflect their shore community nature but dont provide a decent ramp for their residents. If you need to be a resident in beachwood to get a permit that will rule that out.

As far as the other ramps:

the ramp in seaside by the 37 bridge looks like it's sand ??- I would be afraid of getting the trailer stuck.

As someone said - gilford park and IH are both lousy

Ocean gate and Good luck point are options but still a drive from the north side of TR I'll check them out as a backup

I will also check out the deal at Coty's

thanks for your help

Chris

Chris

I live in Beachwood , I can help you out to get a permit.

I drug on that Coty Marine Ramp so I would say it steep, my trailer is kind of low. You guys in Jersey get banged hard on ramp charges the most you pay around here (Richmond VA) is $8

What do yu mean? The ramps aren't just like Florida with nice floaters to tie up to after launching And wide enough that you could launch like 4 boats at a time? Why with all this coast line? Guess none of those guys we voted in are boaters or maybe the state is picking up their dock fees as a perk.

Obviously you've never been to Atl High

Lucididee 01-27-2008 07:15 PM

Also keep in mind when launching down that area. Parking for the truck & tralier and what time the ramp closes can also be an issue.

activatorf1 01-27-2008 10:01 PM

I live in south Jersey and boated down the jersey shore for 25 years , went to the Chesapeake once and never looked back , great ramps, fresh water, clubs everywhere, AND NO GOD DAMN FLIES!!!!!!!!!!!

Jigsaw89 01-28-2008 01:21 PM

Where exactly did you boat that flies were an issue? I own a home on a lagoon in Toms River, go boating every weekend during the summer and can honestly say that flies are a non-event. Sure I smack a few off my legs during the summer, but it ends with a casualty laying on my cockpit floor. No biggie.

He may be talking about LBI area. I know a friend down there has mentioned it before.

DPT MOTORSPORTS 01-28-2008 05:01 PM

Stecz20,

You didn't like the Beachwood ramp when you and Tantrum used it for the Barnaget Bay Run two years ago?????

stecz20 01-28-2008 07:44 PM

its was ok, still not close for us..

Hauling Trash 01-28-2008 08:12 PM

Go over the bridge, first marine on right.
