Need help on Alternators
 

So we have 500 efi engines and I need to get new alternators. We need to up the amps , so where can we get some that are on steroids. We run about 8000 watts and 30 + speakers ,+ 4-12 inch subs,+ 2- 10 inch subs and 4 tvs.
We had 8 batteries in the boat but it slowed me down 8-9 miles per hour. So we are on a search for some muscle. The alternators on the engines are very small factory ones.

Seriously, I think a generator is what you need.

We do carry a small 2000 Honda with us , but the batteries never can charge all the way with these small alternators.

I have 6 ten in subs and 4 6x9s I had the same problem. Found a place in FL called The Battery Shack called him up he sent me a 160amp alternator I've had no problems sence. I have three batteries. It took me two years to work all the bugs out. Waves are the hardest on a stereo. I don't have the number to that place any more. Good luck.

Have you thought about one of the larger water cooled marine types. I have seen a number of hot boats with them, and they are very quiet. Infact, with the stereo off, you can barely hear them run while rafted up. Sorry I do not know the manufacturer's name.

You should be able to take them in to an alternator rebuild place and have them bump up the amp output.

I have some really nice 95 amp Prestolite alternators in stock. (UL Approved) These will charge over 50 amps each at idle speeds. One on each engine would be 190 amps of dependable power. I have some other options also.

If your motors have the Mando alternators, you may spend more on upgrading them than just replacing them with another brand that already has a high output model, at least that's what my local alt guy told me. I went with Delco 100amp units and everything was fine. By the sound of the load you are putting on your batteries you may need more than that.
