Old IROC cars and Panoz club racing cars? Very nice shop by the way! What the heck are you guys going to do with that stuff at Irwindale? Big Willow is where it's at (assuming "it" is race cars and ONLY race cars! ).

Are those old IROC cars? I thought that they just rebodied them from year to year (at least the Avengers to the Firebirds)... Was it Jay Signore that took care of those cars?

Yes, Jay was head of the I.R.O.C. fleet program. Met him several times working medical/safety at MIS.

Jay hired me in 1978. I've been with Penske ever since.

Our ex-IROC stock cars are Banjo Matthews chassis, built between 1984 and 1992. They have been run as Camaros and Daytonas, but all carry 1994 Avenger-style bodies now. All these cars were superceded by Laughlin-chassis cars, run as Firebirds until the recent demise of IROC. We own 13 of them, 11 Panoz GT-S cars, 10 Mustang coupes for drifting (THAT's what we're doing at Irwindale), and 15 Van Diemen Formula Vauxhall Juniors.

HA! Should have known by the look of that shop and the Marlboro livrey! You Penske guys do stuff first class! It was a shame that IROC went tits-up, I always enjoyed watching it. Of course I was always rooting for the sports car guys, but I think that IROC and the Nascar road races really opened a lot of sports car and open wheel guys eyes to how good those taxi cab drivers in Nascar really are!

Nice to know I haven't forgotten everything I used to know about racing!

Man! From the looks of this thread it appears that no one here smokes a certain brand. I was hoping that I would bump into some OSO'ers in my travels, but it looks like I'm going to have to pay my own bar tabs.....

We travel all around the country, so it occurred to me that, sooner or later I'm bound to encounter some of you derelicts.... er - fine people... at one of these shindigs. We're in Houston right now, but will be all over the country during the course of the year.

SO - Who has been, or has been invited?

where at in H-Town??
