I bought a 1999 29 LaveyCraft 3 yrs ago....last year I put a new Blower motor in it (built by a very reputable builder)....put a Bmax drive on it to handle the extra hp...put a bad azz paint job on it (with pearl and all the works)..replaced the entire frame on the steel trailer... and then came across a deal on a 38zr Donzi and bought it...I put the LaveyCraft up for sale a few months ago for not much more than what I have invested in it the last 3 years (not including what I originally paid for the boat)...I've had a few calls but not one has even looked at it yet...I'm hoping its just bad timing...hoping anyway

What I want to know is where all these boats are that are in perfect condition after someone dumped a lot of money into them. All I ever hear is the last owner said everything was good, but I had to dump a lot of money into it to get it right.

I'm in the same boat (so to speak). I'm just a sucker for old school performance boats and the "old" part always means they need work. In the end, I'm not happy until everything's been gone through and it's just like an old house, it would be cheaper to tear it down and build new. I can try to rationalize it any way I want. In the end I'm doing it because it gives me a great deal of pleasure to have a really nice and unique older boat that I know will be in top shape.

Well, I can assure you mine was spotless (not perfect) when I sold it to the current owner. Now, he runs the dog sh it out of it and everytime I see him, he feels compelled to mention something is broken. Keep in mind, this is an '89 model Formula F311 (19 years old). Things do break on a 19 year-old boat.

One year, at the Emerald Coast PR, he catches me and says one of the engines "blew up". Well, after a little digging and asking a few more pointed questions, the truth comes out. An oil cooler broke and he didn't notice the loss of oil pressure. Ran it dry and seized a motor. Not saying you fall into this category, just sayin. I'm sure this guy talks sh it about me in other circles but I can sleep good at night knowing I sold him a quality rig.
