i lived there from 97 to 2000. Great boating and GREAT seafood. Was a bit banjo in areas but now I assume it is much more civilized. Developed 2000 acres 5 minutes from the Dahlgren base.

I've lived about 15 miles from there all my life. It's a nice area, they are doing thier best to clean it up a bit. Some parts have a lot of Mexicans that can be a little rough, but ok for the most part. Great boating on the Potomac. Looking for any certain answers just ask & I'll do my best to answer them for you.

I put in for a job down there. Have to wait and see who knows.................

We have a house right across the river from there. A nice place with good restaurants. A little on the older side of life for some but still has its good points. Boating in the area is also good with easy access to the bay and surrounding waters.

Matt, Enforcer24 on here lives there.

I'll have to wait and see how it goes. I put in for the job, but they usually try to select someone from the local offices.

The cost of living (housing anyway) is probably much lower than where you live now. If you get the same or better salary, you should be ahead of the game. I worked at Dahlgren 96-03.

CAP071 02-08-2008 07:02 AM

Housing is MUCH MUCH lower then here..

Capo, good luck with the job pursuit.

The Potomac is a pretty cool place to boat as well. That far south/east on the Potomac, is actually salt/brackish, as you are not far from the Chesapake Bay. Do a Google Search on "Solomons Island Maryland" which is also a very cool boatable destination, as is a trip all the way into Washington DC and Alexandria, VA.

There are quite a few of us here that are within an hour or two of there by boat and/or by land. As mentioned, "Linster"/Linny on OSO has a place right on the water there, as well as a 35 Nordic. "45Sonic"/Bill & Patty have a big Sonic and a big Sea Ray cruiser, and they are close, and there are some really awesome events in this region each year. If you make it, we'll be sure to find you a ride on the Jammin' on the James (Richmond, VA) Poker Run as well. Albeit, you will have to put up with John. :D

Its about 20 minutes from my shop. Its a neat little town with a river boat for gambling.

CAP071 02-09-2008 08:24 AM
