Anyone know what the benefits are of using a V6-14 ignition verses a V8-24 ignition? I have one of each on my 28’ checkmate, twin SB 350’s I want them to be the same so, witch one should I buy, I’ve heard the V-6-14 will give me better mid-range, but what about at idle? I will be setting the total timing around 28 deg, or should it be 34 deg, last year I set to 34 and had major problems with pre-ignition, and rebuilding top end of both motors twice, I don’t want to have the same nightmare again this year. So I thought that I would throw it out to you guys and get some expert advice, any experts’ in the bunch? I’ll bet their might be some expert drinkers, but I got that covered…:boat:

The V6 module allows for more initial advance,
which helps with idle speed manners.

The V6 module will bring the timing in allot quicker (as it thinks it is on a V6).
They were recommended for my Inovation 468 blower motors.
Sounds great with the blowers and big cams. Idle is rough and surges.

There have been alot of threads on timing. Here's my take.
32-34 = premium gas. 20 - 24 = regular.

Use the v6-14's. They will help it idle better. They give about 10* advance on a v8 engine all in by 2500rpms. Without having more info on the engine, there is no way to tell where to set total timing. It should be somewhere in the 28-34 range.
