What is the perfect boat?

Custom, production, one offs

What is your perfect boat? Now we are not talking about the high rollers or the the low guy on the pole . More a boat that you would save your pennies for, the boat of your dreams.

Similar to owning a bike and needing to have a Orange County Chopper or a custom bike.

Example's of existing builder's are good but let us me know about your dream boat.

Family needs, seating, power, graphics, theme's.

What keeps you awake at night?

The 40' Poker Run Advantage in the classifieds:evilb:

glassdave 02-15-2008 12:09 PM

I always thought the 400ss Formula would be about perfect or maybe a 50 Nortec V with big diesels. set up for comfort over speed.

seafordguy 02-15-2008 12:45 PM

Let's see....I would certainly want something longer

I like the lines of the cigs the best. Problem is it is hard to move up from a cafe racer and still find a boat with a Full Pleasure Cabin (not necessarily in love with the looks of the Revo), and all the others (Tiger, 42X, 42XP, RR, Mar.) don't have full cabins. SO....I think the next time I get another boat, which will coincidently coincide with me miraculously tripping over a garbage bag full of money, it would probably be a 50 Nortech SuperVee.....

Graphics/Color scheme would probabably be VERY simplistic - mostly white with some Silver, Blue and Black in the cockpit interior - and I would have a F$%ing Aluminum trailer.

BUT - that is SO FAR off that it has never once kept me up at night.

American Spirit a 31 foot American Offshore with twin 502s. Owned by Art Dinicolantonio the owner of A.O. The boat is located in Seabrook, Texas and I've gone along many times. This carburated, supercharged CAT has times of 136mph radar. He ran a 26 foot single engine 1000mph A.O. that he sold to me in 2004. Both boats are my dream boats. Mine 1BADBOY is a 120mph that won fastest boat on lake trophy @ 114mph in bad water.

We raced a new Skater last summer in American Spirit and on the third lap hit 134. Won 2 of three losing only the first as the Skater did not allow us to get with 50 yds before hauling A--. Talk about perfect? Whooee!

The perfect boat is the one you want next.

NICKM 02-15-2008 08:24 PM

The perfect boat is:

1) a house boat

2) a 38ft go fast something or other

3) a wakeboard boat

4) a ski boat

5) maybe and I mean maybe a pwc

Personally I don't think the perfect boat that fits all needs exists. It would be great if it did! Save a lot of dough!

an enclosed head(wife's requirement)?
genny for the air for overnighting on the hook?

that would be getting pretty close for me.
In a dream world, more cockpit space. Something more social oriented for a cockpit layout for the family. Twin bolsters and a bench is a deal breaker for the reality that boating is a family hobby for me.

jeffashby 02-15-2008 08:33 PM

Active Thunder 37'. Lots of cabin/v-birth room with a/c, hot and cold water, frige, microwave, large head w/ shower, great cockpit room, sleek looks, handles rough water like no other, the quality of the rigging/wiring is above all and runs over 100 mph!

AIR TIME 02-15-2008 08:52 PM

46ft tubine powered skater with full cabin:D 10ft sea so whattttt

Perfect boat mmmmm, well lets have enough room in the cockpit for 8-10 people. :ernaehrung004:

-Headroom in the cabin for a 6' 5" man could stand up and get around down there and also have the cabin door large enough to enter without either bumping your head or scratching your arms

-With the speed of a Fountain (Top speed verses Hp required) and I would like to have the Top end capabilities of around 100 -105 and a fine cruising speed of 85. With stock power!!!

- The dash layout and bling of a Cig as well as their bilge

-The neat little idea's that Sunsation has (empty beer can dispensers and coolers under the bolsters, etc).

-Having cup holders at the swim platform area (Checkmate)

-Storage compartments and access of a Baja. A place for everything that is secure and quickly accessible (dock lines, bumpers, beer, etc)

-The Cooler location (glove boa for some manufacturer's) at the Port helm like the Sonic's.

-A sound system that totally rocks!!! also having 3 remotes (two at the frt bolsters and one at the swim platform)

-AC and a gen would be great (AC set up to be on while the boat is under power)

-The graphics would have to be majority white with some red and blue or orange and yellow.

- I also agree with seafordguy, aluminum trailer for me as well.

PS
A removable stripper pole would also be nice too!!:D

Quinlan 02-16-2008 06:36 AM

Yea Dont for get the Stripper pole!!!

Chris Sunkin 02-16-2008 06:48 AM

The perfect boat for me would be the 47 Apache with a 3-man bolster.

However, Beau's response is certainly the most accurate. So I'll amend- My perfect boat is a 47 Apache on a hydrohoist behind a home in the Key's, all owned by a friend who can afford it and doesn't mind me using it whenever I like. ;)

You buy it, I'll own it, and you can come down anytime you like.:D

J.B. Marshall 02-16-2008 07:19 AM

I believe for me and the family the perfect boat could be a 46' Black Thunder. Don't know for sure never been on one running, just at shows.

Still performance with all the creature comforts of a cruiser.
I would be happy the family would be happy. :evilb:
If mama is happy everyone is happy... :p

There's a lot of truth and wisdom in that statement

Just when I thought they were narrowing in on the perfect boat I realized just how true that is.

Sleeping
Entertaining
Water Sports
Speed of a Cat
Wave Crushing status of an Apache:D
Reliability

Maybe a big yacht, with about 8 different boats on board.

crb76 02-16-2008 03:23 PM

Deep V= 37 Active Thunder
Cat- 36 Nortech or a 39 MTI with 700's

Comanche3Six 02-17-2008 07:25 AM

The new 50' Apache paid for with cash.
