Out of all the Black Thunders, I like the orange one pictured in Powerboat mag. last year the best (nudge, nudge, wink, wink).

Drove by the factory in Hannibal one day coming back to Illinois from LOTO. If you blink you will miss the factory! I always seem to time it where the factory is pulling a boat down to LOTO as I'm passing through Hannibal heading to the lake.

I was going to buy a Black Thunder. Bob Jenkins invited me to LOTO, let me use the boat the whole weekend . The boat was a 93 43gt with 502's. Toured the factory and seen the product from start to a finished product, Bob built a great boat then . The only reason I did not purchase I could not get the bank to work the numbers for me. After a weekend of use there was no hard feelings . He tried his best to make the numbers work. I would be very surprised that Bob would let a Black Thunder run around with holes in it. The boats that left the plant were always tested and ran. They would spend time with the owners and make sure they were happy.Just my 2 cents!

Colleagues; My Boat is 98% fixed- I am just doc the hassle

Just for the record; my boat has almost everything fixed except for a small door seal problem; a loose shelf and the damaged trailer. My complaint is that BT does not think they should be penalized for all the inconvenience and they ruined the boat buying experience, not to mention added colors without auhorization. I jut wanted to warn my fellow boaters what to expect, if they can sell me a fully loaded NEW BT for 330K than 438K is hard to justify. Here some pictures of how my boat was delivered. I don't want someone else to go throught went through, I should not have to fix four pages of issues after the boat is delivered. Can someone tell me how to post PICs on this thread? Yes, the boat is "for sale" because my wife won't ride in it because of all the hassles and wrong color. I have 335K in it ,if anyone is interested about 5 Hours on BOAT. Make offer.

pasquesi 02-23-2008 10:55 AM

Poof it? This is exactly what happened with the Trick threads...they got poofed, and then all of our wallets got poofed! It should just stay right here, and if this company is so great, what's the damage from one thread. If this gentleman had a bad experience, I'm happy he is passing it on!

Westcoast 02-23-2008 11:08 AM

you have to up your membership to post pictures...or you can e-mail me [email protected] and I will post them for you

PJDiesel 02-23-2008 11:08 AM

jfnowi, go to www.photobucket.com and upload all your photos there. This way you can just post a link to the album and we all see them.

I don' think you can post or view pics without a membership.

Ah, that would explain it. He is fairly well known here locally. I sold him a piece of commercial property back in 2004/2005.

I knew he was somehow connected with BT, didn't know that was his boat though.

Are you down at Tomes too?

LapseofReason 02-23-2008 02:13 PM

I think the limited amount of boats they put out hurts the quality on some of the more custom boats they do. My buddy Carlos had them build a 46 with the ex cockpit and 3 yanmar. 315's in it so they had to put them all in a row across the back not the staggered setup. That boat was a huge POS they put the trim tabs inside the drives, it never ran right they even had Reggie Fountain drive it and see what he thought. The final outcome was to build a big piece and mold it into the bottom of the boat to basically remove the last step. After well over a year of working on it and many attempts from Carlos to get his money back they had it so it wouldn't porpoise, now 10 mph slower than they said it would be and eating center drives so bad he traveled with a spare drive. They should have told him he had to go with twins or scrap the ex cockpit before wasting all that time and money and now some other poor sap has that boat.

Yes I am. Since '01-'02.

bmanafort 02-23-2008 03:21 PM

I think if they fixed the problems, you dont have much of a case. Sounds like you are looking to waste the courts time with your inconvinece of your $400,000 boat purchase.

Jassman 02-24-2008 05:46 PM

Here are the pics that were forwarded to me on this particular Black thunder due to the poster not being able to shrink pics down for posting.

See, that is one of the downsides of this forum. They should consider letting the non-dues paying members view attachments.:(

It's not that much $$.

And it is their bu$ine$$ or we would not be reading any of this.

Jeff, I can understand the air-voids where they are since the mold must be a biotch to lay-up in those areas.

Easy fix and non-structural.

excursion 02-24-2008 06:27 PM

There you have it boys , the BOAT MASTER has spoken and says no big deal. So you will get your boat fixed and enjoy hopefully.

I don't follow?

I'm a "member" of other FREE sites (other interests) that are just as comprehensive and well run as this one...?

Only thing I suppose is different is that the VENDORS pay to keep those sites up and running properly. It's not like the people here don't pump enough money into the vendors and advertisers on this, right?

As far as it being "thier" business, I'm inclined to believe that if this site went away there would be three others to fill the void, all with vendors ready to send advertising money to get the captive audience.
