Default Safety Straps

How do you guys do it? the K planes are in the way of the rear boat loop to trailer tie point, the strap has to wrap around the K plan, anybody hurt anything tieing in this manner?

Another thing, its only 18" from point A to point B, they dont make a heavy duty strap that short, the boat weighs in at 8500# so you need some good stuff.

Just take them around the Kplanes or move the attachment points on the trailer. The straps don't need to hold the entire weight of the boat. I found some I liked at a local TSC(Tractor Supply Co) store. They are just like these listed on ebay, but I think mine rated at 3500#. I didn't bolt mine. Just used a threaded D ring type connector.

nope, those are not good enough, I pulled the boat back to Calif. from florida, I had straps heavy'er than those on there, one tore in half and it straitened out the hook.

As far as strap capacity I have the same question. I have two 5000 lbs straps on the transom to the trailer to hold a 7500 boat. Now my question is- Am I strapping down a 7500 lb boat to an aluminum trailer or am i strapping a 1500 lb trailer to my boat????

Fold the strap in half, and run it between the K-plane and the mounting plate for the K-Plane. There is about a 3/8" gap between them and this works great on my setup.

Sydways: I read your same post someplace else, I really dont get what your saying. Why fold in half? I want to put one hook on the boat and the other on the trailer, whats the fold in half for?

I fold the strap in half LENGTHWISE so the strap makes a " V " as it passes around the K-Plane. The gap between the K-Plane and the Mounting Plate is just enough to fit a double thickness of the strap. By using this gap as a guide, it keeps the strap away from the hull of the boat as well.

If that still does not make sense, I will take a picture of my setup when I get home in a few days.

If the boat is bouncing around that much on the trailer, then you might have other issues.
