Just returned from the Tres Martin school WOW

I just returned from ocala fl where I attended The ultra high performance boat school. Tres was my teacher, the class was amazing. I have driven boats for years but after taking the class I feel much more confident about my driving. I can not express in words how important it is to learn these skills that he teach's you. I just moved over to cats from v bottoms. I can now turn my cat and trim properly, which everyone thinks they know but really dont. The class also helps you to understand the hydrodynamics of a boat and how the boat works. This allows you to understand and prevent possible wrecks before they happen. I highly suggest the class for the novice to the so called expert beacuse after you are done you will understand how I feel. Thanks agian Tres for the great class and showing me how to drive my boat the right way, safe and controlled.

.......so, how much faster is your boat now?

johnlomant 02-27-2008 02:31 PM

My boat is plenty fast but I now feel safe driving the boat at any speed. On the other hand the boat now handles like its on rails, because I know how to steer it properly. :D

Run_em_hard 02-27-2008 02:52 PM

I wish his Annapolis class wasn't full:(

offthefront 02-27-2008 03:17 PM

So ..... what would be the one thing that you learned that you thought you knew the right way but learned otherwise ? I have heard it's an awsome course .....m

otis311 02-27-2008 03:34 PM

I just won a 2500.00 gift certificate from him. I need to schedule a class

BillR 02-27-2008 03:43 PM

It IS eye opening isn't it.

After 30+ years boating, I learned LOTS!!!!

How to trim a boat properly from a stop to full speed in rough and smooth water conditions, and how to turn a boat properly. Both of these things I was sure I knew what I was doing but I was way off . After you learn the right way on paper and then the next day actually do them you know right away how off you really were.

You would gain a lot from the class since you have a twin step v. They are a lot more complex then people realize.

Does your cat have any trim tabs or a tunnel tab? Mine does not have any, so the only trimming will be the outdrives.

I think more people would attend if the mftr's subsidized the program but the avg boater has to decide between spending $2500 on a class, himself, his boat & or his family.

I'd love to go if someone wants to foot the bill. I tried to organize a school here in NC for my local boat club & the price was the same 1 or 15 & there wasn't any interest in offering a class anywhere but FL.

Tom

Register early thats all I can say. Everyone waits till the last minute and it cost more in the long run for everyone.

If you flip your boat because of inexperiance you will not have to worry how to spend that $2,500.00. The class is priceless, the peace of mind is a must, and the knowledge is for your family and people on board !!!

johnlomant 03-03-2008 01:33 PM

I agree thats why I took the class
