30' Race Cats
Anyone have any pics of older 30' Chris, Shadow, US1, etc. race cats like "Sunoco" they could post? Anyone know if any of these are still around?
Thanks: Matt |
i believe a guy in jersey with a junk yard has the old sunoco shadow cat stored at his yard.

Here's my dad's old boat, The Black Duck....wish I had more, but most of the pics I have are not digital. He also had a pleasure version of the 30 Chris Cat named Duckin' Out...will see if I can get any pictures of that

T2X: I was wondering the same thing. I have an old "Freeze Frame" video from 1988 the "Sundays on the Bay" race and it shows a boat driven by Rick Conti called a US1 Boat Manufacturing and it looks just like a 30' Shadow/ Chris Cat? It is black with silver stripes and appears to have a pleasure cockpit as opposed to a three man set-up.

Matt If it was an NNRT tape there would have been a clear explanation from that wonderful, and good looking, announcer they had. Boy he was something, live to tape from the helicopter, knew all the hulls, engines, drives and personalities of the sport. All that without any kind of a script.....Heck he even did interviews.....and built many of the boats in the race too. And the video footage was the best....not to mention the pilot an ex-Navy night flier off carriers into Vietnam.... Wow! Wonder why they never won an Emmy? :D:D:D:D T2x P.S. I am shameless if nothing else......:p |

Do you guys currently know if it’s still in Tom’s River or at my pops friends junkyard still? He has recently passed away, and I’m trying to get any and all info I can on the boat. I know this post is a long shot being it’s soooo old. Feel free to reach out to me any time. I’m currently in brick nj[/QUOTE] |

That name was at the end of the boats career, it had a much longer and famous existence prior to the name Pipeline. It was owned by John Emmons from NJ, it started out life as "Town and Country Chevrolet" it was raced in Modified, Sport, and P class in APBA, and raced in just about every class in NPBA trim. due to the fact that it was an inboard Small Block Shadow cat the boat just ate rough water for lunch and would run through just about everything. it changed ownership and name to Pipeline after a major stuff crash in Key West which caused the boat to be rebuilt, thats where it changed ownership, and that story folks is for another day.........
