Default Formula 382 or 353 Fastech

Looking to upgrade from 271 SR1 to 353 or 382 Fastech. Need some opinions on which one to go with. Will be running Lake of the Ozarks mostly on weekends. Which do you think will ride/perform the best or is there much difference.

Thanks

Tim

From everything I've read on this site, it seems most people lean towards the 353.

The 353 is a great boat. nice size for the chain and lake michigan. jmackin has a 98 with super low hours and it's priced right.

Had both, liked the 353 alot better, of course that decision was helped along alot due 2 severe engine probs w/ the 382!!!!!!! 382 rides better but w/ the length and weight dif., needs bigger power if U want some good speed. I never, never saw 80 mph w/ my 575's & ITS boxes & tried a bunch of props!!! Good Luck!

We went with a 382 because we knew we would be mostly in the gulf and wanted a better rough water boat. Ours has 600s and runs about 85 gps. It does take a lot of power to go fast. Now we are wanting more speed and rough water handling, looking at getting into a Sunsation F-4

I really wanted the 353 until I spent some time in one.

The 353 is a "sport boat". It rides well and is a performer for daytrips. The 382 is a "tank". It rides very well and although slower, it has the cabin to overnight in comfortably (not in the 353 IMO). They are both great boats but purchase based on how you'll use it.
We bought the 382 because we overnight alot. The size is great and ours performs well with built 500EFI's at over 600HP. A little Honda 2000 and we have A/C, tv and DVD player with a frig, microwave, and vacu-flush head.

Right now we're looking to sell and move into a 370SS.

The 382 handles and rides great in rough water, has a good size cabin. If speed is more important, I'd go with the 353.

I started with a 271 and moved up to a 357. After a couple of 41 Apaches, I went to a 382.

The 382 is a great boat. The 353 seemed too small to me . . . especially compared to an Apache.

Suggest you ride in both before making up your mind.

Ditto on what has already been said. The 353 will run about 80-81 with 500's while the the 382 will run about 73-74 with 500's. The 382 is a lot heavier and will ride better. My friend has a mint condition 2002 353 with 500's and factory boxes for sale also.
