Not trying to start anything here but the extra pictures would have been really helpful.

Wow, controversy on this thread? :D

OK, let's start with the necessary disclainer:

"This boat is not an Apache, nor was it ever an Apache. As far as I know, no Apache or other Native American tribesmen have ridden on this boat. This boat was once trailered not far behind a truck pulling an Apache, and an Apache owner once enjoyed riding in this boat when his Apache was broke." :p

There, now that that's out of the way, here's a picture of the original transom, cut to house the transmissions used for the pulsedrive. The transom is 2" thick and made from a microlaminate South American hardwood that I forgot the name of. :cool-smiley-011:

Nice. Thanks for the pics. Cool project. I've seen this boat on Clinton Lake. Are you going to relocate the sea strainers or can you access the tops from under the back seat?

I believe the sea strainers will stay where they are. You get to them through a hatch in the floor just in front of the back seat. Makes water flow checks nice and easy. ;)

The transom was 2" before. It was mentioned that two additional layers of plywood were added over top of the old so how thick is it now, 3"? :D

Are you switching tabs? I didn't know what effects the surface drives had. I talked to Vic at the factory and he said they put the smallest kplanes available when they do them. My cheap bennets are bent and I want to switch them out.

Great project!!

I'm leaving the 280's on. The cheapest stuff you can buy is the stuff you already own! The longer tabs may come in handy for low speed watersports. :cool-smiley-011:

I dont think you can even refer to speed when talking about my boat. Im looking at the shorter Dana's when I convert.

I see you got right on putting those other stickers on the valve covers:D
You're making me look bad:evilb:

Young Performance 07-16-2008 08:20 PM

You know, after all the pics I took along the way, I didn't take any when it was finished. I think I was just so happy to see it leave, I forgot.:evilb:

Frequency 07-16-2008 08:25 PM

Gee, thanks buddy. :angry-smiley-038:

The cover studs stayed with the heads, so I'll need to lock a nut on them to remove them so I can get the covers off. Then I'll put your purdy-ass decals on.

:evilb:

You going to be out on Clinton anytime soon?

twanger 07-17-2008 08:00 AM

Let's hear the numbers. By the way it looks great!

Frequency 07-18-2008 11:09 AM

We went to Clinton in June. Probably won't be back until August some time.

I have a set of stock 28P Bravo's on the boat now, but haven't really run her yet. I'll get some numbers next week when we head down to Shelbyville. :)
