Free 85' 31ft Chris Craft Stinger

Two years ago I acquired this boat, bad engines (400 TRS) for 9,000. Since then it has been moved around place to place, with no real home. It was left in the water over the winter with no motors. I got the boat from the original owner but somehow lost the title. I have absolutly no ambition anymore and anyone who wants it can just have it.

During a wind storm last year the lines broke free and allowed the boat to smash up against the concrete dock, damage is minor (swim platform is gone, winshield damage, got a lot of water in it, basically sank but caught it just in time). Its in the water in Lake Hopatcong, NJ. No trailer. Please take this headache off my hands. Remember no motors or trans, just the drives which worked when i got it.

PM, or email me at [email protected] if interested

I would take it ,but could not afford to fix it up.My wife would leave me and I would need the money for a divorce attorney:D Good luck not every day you see a boat for free no matter what the condition.

prostock85 03-17-2008 08:33 PM

Thanks Steve (assuming), this really doesn't need much, I'm in the process of looking for a cat and I don't need three large boats. It ran with the two bad motors but not well at all, the boats only got 200 something hours on it. Someone will hopefully take it and make use out of it. I have the transmissions but would possibly need them for some other boat.

thisistank 03-17-2008 09:37 PM

That thing is cool, classic lines, screams potential...but then again, I love watching people do projects.

Someone, I"m sure, will take that off your hands.

Why's it in the water by the way?

jeff32 03-17-2008 10:18 PM

wow! free! someone will catch this one up fast! it is still in water? any lauch ramp really close to the boat?

81hydrostream 03-18-2008 09:45 AM

Where on the lake is the boat located?

21 Hustler 03-18-2008 10:08 AM

chuckbeecher 03-18-2008 11:01 AM

Did that boat come from Texas. Looks like one from Clear Lake/Galveston Bay area.

At least the storm cured it of the radar arch.

scarabman 03-18-2008 01:57 PM

How long was it submerged? What would it take to get it to a launch ramp? If you can get it to a ramp, I have a friend who would more than likely take it. He lives in Brick NJ. Would possibly be able to pick it up this weekend.

prostock85 03-18-2008 02:35 PM

OK, the boat in the pics was at Hockenjos (Royal Wave). But its currently at a friends house between Main lake market and Brady Bridge. I can tow it to any ramp at the lake.

Its in the water because i only have one trailer which my fountain lives on.

It was submerged (not fully) for maybe 5 hours until the pumps had it fully afloat again. probably has some rain water in it now but ill go pump that out later on today.

I believe that boat was in storage at All Seasons Marina in Ocean City N.J.

A boat like that was there for about 5 years.Stored for at least 3 years.

Good Luck,

Chris

Chris, I think your right, I bought if off some guy that got it from the marina. it had 243 hours on it. Registration says 98. The title was original from 85 but moving twice i must've misplaced it. The guy I bought it from just had it in his yard because the marina changed hands?? Who know, It was signed by the original owner, (have his name somewhere) and the reg numbers bring it up.

How is everything going with your Sutphen Rob? The Chris Craft owner hasn't contacted me yet about me taking it, wonder if he really is serious?

It's amazing how fast a project is able to go if you are willing to write the checks. I don't think they are getting tired of working on it, but I'm starting to get tired of writing checks. I figure in an ideal world you could get good work in a timely fashion and at reasonable price. In the real world, you are lucky to get 2 out of 3 and I got the first two. So I'm lucky - and broke.

Back to your regularly scheduled thread.

spazboz 03-19-2008 10:24 AM

I also Pm'd yesterday, no response. The dot was green when I sent the message, and he responded to the thread about 20 minutes later.

thisistank 03-19-2008 01:41 PM

All these PM's with no answer....Now the bidding starts!:D:D

Iroc cigarette 03-19-2008 01:52 PM

Pro Stock,
I believe that hull is an excalibur hull do not rember if it had the pad.
The boat was hardly used at All Seasons Marina.

Good Luck!

Chris

prostock85 03-19-2008 01:53 PM

spazboz 03-26-2008 03:21 PM

Hey Prostock, is the boat gone? Just curious, Haven't heard back from yah. Believe me, I understand the buried in work thing. Let me know when you have time, Nick.

DMOORE 03-26-2008 03:36 PM

Hopefully it gets a good home. I always really liked the lines of those boats. Classic and good looking.

Darrell.

prostock85 03-26-2008 08:50 PM

gotta answer some more pm's but a pickup is pending, I still haven't gone to get more pictures yet. Sorry, work and moving has been killing me

ve3lt 03-27-2008 08:37 PM

I have available to me an almost complete parts boat up here with a s**t hull and stolen outdrives. The engines purr like a kitten, so that is the only good thing about the parts boat!

If the boat is still available, I have a trailer and can come and grab it up. I might part out the other one and build the 31. It looks like it could use a loving home...I LOVE CC's!
