Cleaning Gaffrig flame arrestor: Soapy water or parts washer?
I've got two of these to clean up, but I'm not sure what to use. It's hard to tell if they have fiber or stainless mesh elements. Anybody know?

I've used carb cleaner.

I use the parts washer to break up the oil that is usually trapped in them.

Thanks! Looks like I'll run them through the ol' Safety-Kleen washer.

Here's the deal. There is an outer ring and an inner ring of coarse stainless screen. Both are welded so they do not lose their shape. In between is about 12 feet of a finer stainless screen. It all comes apart and goes back together pretty easily.
DO NOT try to wash this as a complete assembly - You will NEVER get it clean..... :hitfan: |
I like to hit them with brake cleaner. That stuff will clean anything!

Make sure the wife isn't looking and toss em in the dishwasher with an extra helping of soap. Cuts the grease and hot soaks em clean :)
