I checked them out, is it always $2,500.00 + - for welded aluminum and some powder coating? A buddy of mine makes aluminum items and powdercoats them. He says based on the raw material needed and the powdercoating + labor, he estimates a max cost of $650 to $750. Seems like a lot of profit even if he is way off:(......

yeah - that site is out of control. I called for a quote on mine last year ans they wantes 3700. - I told them to beat it.

I do not recall if it was in the LOTO/Midwest boating forum here or on Midwestboatparty.com, a member had one made just in the last few months by a local shop at LOTO for just over $1000.00 Take a look, it seems a lot more feasible than $3k.

I talked to Westcoast the other day. Their price for my 7' wide boat was $2350 + $295 for a ladder + $200 shipping. Their part looks nice, but I don't know that I want to spend that much. I think I may take some measurements off the back of my boat, and draw one up in cad and see if I can't get someone local to make it. Who knows, that would probably be more expensive in the end!
