I checked them out, is it always $2,500.00 + - for welded aluminum and some powder coating? A buddy of mine makes aluminum items and powdercoats them. He says based on the raw material needed and the powdercoating + labor, he estimates a max cost of $650 to $750. Seems like a lot of profit even if he is way off:(......

yeah - that site is out of control. I called for a quote on mine last year ans they wantes 3700. - I told them to beat it.

I do not recall if it was in the LOTO/Midwest boating forum here or on Midwestboatparty.com, a member had one made just in the last few months by a local shop at LOTO for just over $1000.00 Take a look, it seems a lot more feasible than $3k.

I talked to Westcoast the other day. Their price for my 7' wide boat was $2350 + $295 for a ladder + $200 shipping. Their part looks nice, but I don't know that I want to spend that much. I think I may take some measurements off the back of my boat, and draw one up in cad and see if I can't get someone local to make it. Who knows, that would probably be more expensive in the end!

I remember that thread over on MWBP too, looked really nice and affordable...I just paid twice what you were quoted for a sweet billet piece, but it was a specific custom one and knew it would cost more....damn where's Wiggler when ya need him, he probably has a cheap CNC machine just lying around and could make them for $500.00...:cool-smiley-027:

Jim Kruse Powdercoating at LOTO made mine last Fall. It was $1600 installed. He will most likely need the boat to make it unless you can use one of teh standard versions he has a jig for.

this one was 2500. as an option from Nortech, I had it painted to match and non skid applied as well...best and safest thing Ive ever done on a boat. It covers the drives completely and makes it easier boarding, one step up to the fiberglass step and then one more to sunpad..Good Luck Jeff

Do you have more pics of yours to post Griff? The pic on the other thread doesn't show it very well.

Thanks!
