I checked them out, is it always $2,500.00 + - for welded aluminum and some powder coating? A buddy of mine makes aluminum items and powdercoats them. He says based on the raw material needed and the powdercoating + labor, he estimates a max cost of $650 to $750. Seems like a lot of profit even if he is way off

I do not recall if it was in the LOTO/Midwest boating forum here or on Midwestboatparty.com, a member had one made just in the last few months by a local shop at LOTO for just over $1000.00 Take a look, it seems a lot more feasible than $3k.

I talked to Westcoast the other day. Their price for my 7' wide boat was $2350 + $295 for a ladder + $200 shipping. Their part looks nice, but I don't know that I want to spend that much. I think I may take some measurements off the back of my boat, and draw one up in cad and see if I can't get someone local to make it. Who knows, that would probably be more expensive in the end!

Dave, you don't still have your measurements from when you bought yours do you?
