Default TN republican senator on boat ban....

I hope he does better on this than the Fuel crisis!

Dear Mr. Overbey,

Thank you for taking time to contact my office to share your thoughts regarding the Clean Boating Act of 2008. Your input is important to me, and I appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts.

I agree with you that recreational and pleasure boats should not be subject to the same water discharge regulations as commercial shipping vessels. I had the opportunity to speak before the Marine Manufacturers Association and they shared with me a great deal of information regarding this legislation. As you know, the Clean Boating Act is currently before the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works. Should this legislation come before the full Senate, I will certainly keep your thoughts in mind.

Thank you again for your letter. I hope you will continue to share your thoughts with me.

Sincerely,

Bob Corker
United States Senator

Here is what a Maryland Rep said...

Dear Mr. Nelson:

Thank you for contacting me regarding your support of the Clean Boating Act of 2008 (S. 2766). It's good to hear from you.

I understand your concerns about a potentially cumbersome environmental permit process for recreational boats as a result of a recent Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling. As you may know, this ruling is currently under appeal.

I appreciate knowing of your support for S. 2766, which would exempt recreational boats from a potential permitting process. This legislation is currently pending in the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works. I will certainly keep your views in mind should S. 2766 come before the full Senate.

Again, thank you for getting in touch with me to share your views. Please let me know if I can be of assistance to you in the future.

Sincerely,
Barbara A. Mikulski
United States Senator

P.S. If I can be of further assistance in the future,

Those are just similar form letters that they send back to us as the electronic form letter we sent to them. Undoubtedly one of their staffers keeps track of how many "for & against" letters they get on any given bill or resolution. At least you both put another one in the right bucket for pleasure boating.
