D.O.T. Permit company

Does anyone have a phone number for a D.O.T. permit company that they have used and would recomend? Thanks.
My boat was being moved yesterday and got stopped and sent back to where it started from with a stern warning:(

You'll need a CDL and commercial insurance.

Stopped and sent back is a MAJOR break.

sounds like they tried to move your boat without an oversize permit. You can get away with doing that if you know how to. Some states will let you drive by and other states can be a real *****. good luck. Also some states require that the carrier file electronicly with insurance. what states are you going through? to where from where

Chuck,
I use TC permit service and they are very helpfull . When I brought up my boat I had to get a DOT number before I could get permits and Georgia and New Jersey wanted Insurance Accord Certificates on file .

do you need a cdl even if it's your own personal boat?, and your the one moving it ?

RHC 04-03-2008 09:04 AM

Rule # 1 ,,, dont stop at the scales

Rule # 2 ,,,, always move the boat on the weekend or after five ,, DOT's are fed or state workers ,, they seldom work overtime

Rule # 3 ,,,, act dumb and tell them your sorry ,, that you did not know ----------

If you do apply for the permit , you will then be asked for proof of insurance ,, then comes the big ones ,, IE: DOT auth ,, Cargo Insurance ,, Log books ,, ect:

Good Luck !!!
