Its not a Cigarette - it was a Scarab - SEA SWEEP - Tony Garcia driving - prototype Arneson drives - its a NNRT video - multi generations down - (degraded video) - Plenty more where that came from - contact Triple X here - its from the 1980 Point Pleasant race if I am not mistaken.

Phil that is your stuff for sure. It was Tony Garcia driving the Arneson Scarab at the Benihana race in'80....same race with Elswick in Long Shot...'80 was the year he went on to become US 1.

The guy remarks about him "going in the water" in Argentina. As you and I both remember, he went into his life raft and was rescued by a freighter going to Buenos Aires.

Great memories...happy to have been around with guys like you back then.

Very cool, how about putting them on DVD and selling as a collection. (I know you tried a few years back but it never seemed to get off the ground)

Is the Long Shot boat the same boat that Cashbrain had bought for Ellswick?

Loved the footage of Fayva Shoes too! I wish I had the extra bread to bring that one home!

Kurt

I'd buy one of those! At the risk of showing my age, I miss the days when offshore racing was for bad asses, and the name Cigarette MENT something.

Yes....that was a tough boat. Billy actually rented themold from Cigarette so that he could build the boat his way.

That Long Shot was the 39 foot mold that they pulled a 37 foot 6 inch boat out of..... and made Ajac Hawk.....which as we all know became the first Top Gun that they now call a 38 footer.

JO - PANTERABOATS 04-05-2008 07:16 PM

At the 1:00 mark that is "Black Sunday" a Pantera 28' my Father built back in early 1978 powered by triple Mercury outboards. Boat is still running around in Puerto Rico today.

Great footage !!!
