good read,increasing fuel mileage

I found this article doing a search and found it very interesting.

I'm not buying it. I don't think fuel vaporization is hindering fuel economy. If it was, then there would be a particulate problem with gasoline engines, and there is not.

Don't know that I would run acetone thru fuel injectors not knowing what the outcome would be. Any one wanna try ???

dmaxx3500 04-06-2008 03:31 AM

they said it worked in diesels,i tryed it for 10,000 miles in my 2002 duramax and didn't see any better or worse mpg's,,it doesen't do a dam thing,,

Anyone want to buy swampland in Florida?

I have been a mechanic for over thirty years and Acetone (A SOLVENT!?!?!?!?!?!) in my opinion will cause a "wash" of the cylinder walls during flame propagation. This will in most likely cases wash the oil off the walls causing piston ring failure!
The website looks very professional and their explaination is the best of any "yellow journalism" that I can see.
There have always been gas milage gurus, but you can not change the law of physics.
All internal combustion engines will only operate at approximately 40% efficiency and the rest is lost in heat, exhaust and some in the newer engines are recycled in egr systems, but essentially you can't do too much to a modern engine to increase milage by using a "mechanic in a can"

I won't be adding acetone to my engines that' s for sure.

If that is a penny for my thoughts, and you put your two cents in...who's making a penny?

Oh its the guy who came up with this hairbrain idea to ruin you blocks and heads!

doesnt audis new fsi direct injection do somethin like this?

increase the vaporization/mixture for better torque and milage

Tinkerer 04-06-2008 07:53 AM

I don't think the average gas engine is even close to 40% efficient.
