Default What stereo is your boat??

I'm going to install a new stereo in my boat. I want one that will work with a wired remote if possible. What's in your boat and how do you like it?

Running an all Sony system. Sony CD head unit with 10 disc changer. 4 Sony Xplode 6x9s. Two in cuddy, Two on gunwale. Two Sony 12 subs under the rear bench. A 300 watt amp pushing the subs. Last, two remotes. One for the driver and one located on the swim deck.

I'm running a Kenwood CD deck with a wireless remote. I put a small piece of velcro on the back of it, and a corresponding small piece on the dash. I tell everyone that if it's not in your hand, its on the velcro. You lose it you buy a new one. Thems the rules!!!

Two JL Audio 10" subs, two 6x9's, two 5 1/4". Couple of amps. Not earth shaking, but it does the job.

Kenwood eXcelon deck
4x6.5 eXcelcon speakers
Rockford Rosgate Punch 600.4 75x4
Wimpy setup, inaudible at anything higher than idle.

However, a buddie who works at Harmen International - they own Harmen Kardon, JBL, Infinity - recently hooked my up with the following:

1 - Kappa 692Marine 6x9
2 - Kappa 62Marine 6.5
2 - Kappa Perfect 10.1d Dual Coil 10" sub
2 - Kappa 62.3l 6.5
2 - Kappa 693.3l 6x9

1 - JBL BP600.1 sub amp
2 - JBL P80.4 4-channel
1 - P180.2 2-channel

Have yet to figure out how to mount everything.

I have used quite a few pioneer, panasonic(w/wireless remotes), clarion w/wired. not much sony or jensen. sound quality of pioneer & panasonic good. it all depends on where you mount the head unit as far as wired or wireless remote. most boats I do stay inside when not in use, that could make a difference on what headunit to use, whether being trully marine or not.

Last season installed a Clarion XMD1 CD deck with a 4-channel Clarion amp, CM2502 Sub, added 2 coax speakers to the two already in the cockpit and hooked it all up to a Clarion remote on the helm.

System sounds great. CD doesn't skip. So far, very happy with the Clarion components.

I would try a set of CMI dry pipes. Its all the noise you will ever need.
