Frank both companies are offering installation specials. I used to be a dish network dealer. With either company you will spend less and get more channels. The upfront costs are not there anymore unless you go beyond 2 rcvr's. Once you have the dish you will not change. How many Tv's will you want to connect to? Forrest

Frank,

I understand that you can get TV service AND two way high speed internet service via Satillite from Dish network or the other one. If you go to that please let me know how you like it.

OLN just don't cut it. They screwed us on Speedvision.

Also another alternative is to get a descrabler box. I happen to know where some fell off a truck that work in this area.

Give me a call.

Sat. gives you just one way high speed internet the return is through the phone line. If you live in a comcast area ask for cable modem and you will end up with cable plus for less than $50 a month.

Frank, I also got fed up with my local cable company because they would not pick up Speedvision(now Speed Channel). I got a DirecTV system and will never go back to cable. You can definatly get some good deals now. The only real snag I know of is in the installation cost. Make sure there is a phone jack near your tv location. You can insatll one yourself for about $10-20bucks and a little time. They wanted to charge me $150 for a new jack installation. So I sent them away, set up a new install appointment and they came back in a week suprised to see the new phone jack.

Im not sure why everyone is *****ing about Speed channel. They still show boat racing on Wed and Sat.

Good Luck, Eric

Frank, Just let me know if you need a hand with anything. I have both Cable and Sat. Sat blows away the Cable as far as Clarity and more to choose from. I was a Contractor for the Cable Co. some time ago, but still remember how to wire a house...:D :D :D ;)

Do it and do it now. I've got DirecTV and will never have cable again. The dish is great until you have a bad rain storm and then you loose you signal strength and get service interuption. It is still worth it!

I have both Digital cable and direcTV and the DirecTV blows the cable away. Also my friend has the Dish system and it's not as user friendly as the DirecTV.
